denny: (Dangerous Steve)
Last night I hopped on the scales; not something I do very often any more, now that my goals are more about performance than looks or weight. However, I have to admit I was a bit upset when they said that my body-fat is back up over 20% again now... first time that's happened since I first fought it down from 24% at the start of this whole body-shaping thing. My weight is up from 70kg to just under 74kg, and it looks like most of that increase has been fat rather than muscle.

Still, I was having plenty of fun freerunning this summer, and my weightlifting is going well so far this autumn (records set in the last fortnight: 80kg bench, 115kg squat, 130kg deadlift, 50kg shoulder press), so I'm trying not to worry about it too much. It did remind me that it's been a long time since I took some progress pics though, so I figured I'd do that today and see what's what. So here we go...

Semi-naked photos, proceed at own risk... )

... I think my boobs have got bigger. :-p

More progress pics from October 2012

denny: Me, topless, being a tart. (New and improved)
Not really a progress pic, as it's taken on a good day with favourable lighting and maximum tensing (and it's the best one from half a dozen attempts), but anyway... here's [an ideal form of] what my belly looks like this week:

Belleh! With just a hint of abs :) )
denny: (Meh)
It's been a while (5 months) since my last set of progress pics. As per usual, I can't see much difference between those and the current ones (if anything I think I looked better in the last set), but perhaps I'll think differently in another six months time, who knows.

Photos of me in my underwear. I mean really, who wants to see that? )

Whee! :)

Apparently the handstands class worked.

About time for progress pics again...

Mostly naked Denny behind the cut )

So, there we go. Looking at the previous set, from December, I seem to be a bit more defined around the stomach maybe? Small changes, but positive anyway. Happy about the posture improvement, hope that settles into my hindbrain eventually.

I finally figured out how to fake up a pull-up bar in my flat. This is excellent news for my lats - although they may not currently agree with that diagnosis, aching as they do :)

two pics and a video )

body-shaping ... contains topless photos )

Tomorrow I'm off to eat Xmas dinner with my family, and then Boxing Day dinner with [personal profile] helenic's family. Should be a nice couple of days :) Have a good xmas if you do xmas, and otherwise have a good week in general. :)

Oh, and have a good New Year too. This New Year's Eve, in the daytime, I've organised a fitness-related party! Not sure if I'll have time to post between that and going out clubbing that night, but if not then I'll try to write it up early in January. We're going to try to complete as many Fitocracy quests as possible in one day... it should be quite silly. :-p

Getting back into the exercising (including some personal training sessions) after a few months off, so thought I'd take some more photos as a reference point...

Topless male flesh (mine, sorry) )
denny: (Stretch)
(Warning; half-naked photos behind the cut) body-shaping )

In other exercise-related news, I've been trying to figure out how to install a pull-ups bar at home, but I suspect it's beyond my DIY skills. To be honest, even putting up a picture hook is beyond my DIY skills, and I'm not likely to get injured if one of those comes crashing to the ground - a pull-ups bar really wants to be solid. Might see if I can hire someone to do it once I've finished this contract I start tomorrow, as I'll have some money then.
denny: (Warning - Non-standard space-time)
This evening after work I went to a technical talk, hosted in the BBC Television Centre meeting facilities. Afterwards we went for drinks in another building on the same site. I left early, because I don't drink, and took the wrong exit from the building - or at least, a different exit from the one we came in by.

I'm glad though, because as I looked around to try to figure out where the hell the local tube station might be, I found this instead:
denny: (Tattoo)
Found a design I really liked today, but wasn't sure where to put it. Then I thought it might look quite good on my thigh if it had some friends underneath it. Is it one tattoo or three if they're done at the same time, in the same place, but are three separate parts? I can't quite decide.

Anyway, see what you think, if you're not scared of the poorly photoshopped, mildly censored, but entirely naked, photo of Denny )
denny: Photo of me wearing my beloved silly hat. It's wuzzy! (Furry hat)
I woke up this morning and decided that I wanted to go and buy, and I quote, "a silly hat".

Camden provided the goods: 600x800 image )

Mission accomplished.

Video clips of me trying to learn transitions from belly-flying to backflying and vice versa (turns out that back to belly is relatively easy, belly to back not so simple):

Barrel rolls

Ninja backflips!

Yeah, okay, so I still suck at it. But it was SO MUCH FUN!

In the process of trying to learn the latter, I did acquire a certain amount of bruising )

Oh, before I was allowed to start on transitions, I had to do stability training for backflying. Which basically means you try to float on the spot while the instructor tries to knock you out of the air :)

Backflying stability

In other bodyflying news, I just found a good page showing the progression of the various bodyflying levels, with some info about each one:

Their time estimates seem wildly optimistic to me - I'd double them all, at minimum - I've taken about two to three times that long for the stages I've done so far, and I'm told I'm 'about average'. Other than that it all tallies up with what I've been told by instructors so far, and seen other people doing. I just thought I'd post it to give people some idea of what the hell I'm talking about, if anyone actually cares that is :) So far I'm up to the end of backflying, about to move on to the walking drills (once I can stop bouncing off the net on those front->back transitions!)

Getting into bed on Tuesday, Helen asks what the hell I've done to my back. I say 'Wut?'. She points out that my back is covered in bruising, and asks if I've been sneaking off for secret liasons with dommes for severe beatings. I saw 'Wut??'. She takes a photo with my phone:

I guess when I was learning backflying last week, I hit the mesh floor a bit harder than I realised each time I fell out of the air.

I did a photoshoot with Helen a few months ago - some pics (at least two NWS) below the emo boy's wrist )
denny: (Juggling)
I can't actually juggle eight. Entertaining pic though.

* the subject of this post is a question I was asked, in all seriousness, by a small girl at Fruitstock 2005, after I'd been showing off with the glowballs for a few minutes. It was asked in such a genuinely interested tone of enquiry that I actually paused to count them before I answered :)
denny: (Ouch!)
Okay, this one is ickier than the last one, be warned.

On Wednesday I took off all the dressings and replaced them, stopping only to take a pic for your viewing pleasure: ouch )
