denny: Me, topless, being a tart. (New and improved)

I figured the day before Xmas was a good time to get some pics. I will be considerably fattier by the 27th, if the next couple of days go to plan! :)

I don't see much difference between these pics and the set from last month - it looks like maybe I've put on a small amount of muscle in some places, but gained a small amount of fat all over too, so overall I look much the same or a tiny bit worse. That said, I didn't see much difference between the August pics and the November pics until I just looked at them again now, and there's actually a world of difference, so maybe these show more than I'm currently seeing too. *shrug*

Front and back. Comme ci, comme ├ža.

Posture is one thing that does seem to have improved - even in the 'slouching' pic. The 'standing up straight' pic had some coaching from [personal profile] helenic before she took the pic, and is therefore particularly impressive. I wish I stood like this all the time!

(Look at it, I'm straight!! Um, you know. Geometrically speaking.)

Back tensed. Quite liking these.

Bonus pic of front, with attempt to flex muscles. May need more chest muscles before the difference between 'flexed' and 'relaxed' is particularly apparent. :)

And, courtesy of [personal profile] helenic's l33t photochopping skillz, here are some progress montages:

I've been doing less cardio recently, and less in the way of isolated lifting too - I've been concentrating more on heavy compound lifts (squats, bench press, and just started on deadlifts), as well as continuing to work hard on pull-ups. Partly because it's good to change routine from time to time, and partly due to advice I've read or been given over the last month or so - in particular, this article, which summarised most of the other stuff I'd been reading/hearing: Everything You Know About Fitness Is A Lie

This seems to be working well for me. I'm feeling really good in day to day life at the minute - feeling strong, healthy, and well grounded and centred in my body. Which is nice.

Tomorrow I'm off to eat Xmas dinner with my family, and then Boxing Day dinner with [personal profile] helenic's family. Should be a nice couple of days :) Have a good xmas if you do xmas, and otherwise have a good week in general. :)

Oh, and have a good New Year too. This New Year's Eve, in the daytime, I've organised a fitness-related party! Not sure if I'll have time to post between that and going out clubbing that night, but if not then I'll try to write it up early in January. We're going to try to complete as many Fitocracy quests as possible in one day... it should be quite silly. :-p

Rar :)

You're doing better than I am, which is saying something given our relative strength levels when we started.

tl;dr but stared at pics. are you doing any shoulder work? may find it balances out the back and chest stuff.

i've realised that i just hate cardio. it's so dull. i can just about cope with the minute stints in our circuits class, and i like dancing, and that's it.

visually and comfort-wise, i find I need to do shoulder work as well as chest and back to get that feeling of strength and even balance up top. plus, shoulder def is hot. there are four exercise i do on a regular basis to make sure i get all the different uh sides? of the shoulders, could show you but i don't know the names of what i do.
