Something I saw as a meme on LJ occasionally seems like it would be much more useful as people are moving in to their shiny new homes over here on DW; introductions.

So, if there are two people in your circle here on DW that you think might get along, but who don't seem to have a direct connection yet, why not point them out to each other?

My first introduction: [personal profile] earle and [personal profile] skx - not sure if you know each other at all, but you're both Perl hackers and Linux fans.

- Describe me in one word... just one single word. Positive or negative.

- Leave your word in a comment before looking at what words others have used.

- Then copy and paste the meme to your journal to find out how people will describe you when limited to one word.
denny: Photo of me wearing my beloved silly hat. It's wuzzy! (Furry hat)
Incredibly ill-advised meme. Actually, I think I'll screen comments, that might make it a bit safer :)

Question: If you saw me in the back of a police car, what would you assume I'd been arrested for?

Who meme.

"Bad laws were made to be broken."

When you see this, post a quote from Doctor Who on your LJ/Blog/Wotsit. But only if you really want to.

Comment on this post with 3 images that remind you of/you associate with me. Repost this meme on your own journal so I can do the same back.

http://images.google.co.uk/ may prove useful.

Comments screened, just in case. :)

Update: unsurprisingly, the comments to this post are now NWS. Took longer than I expected, mind you :)

That's actually not a bad summary of the year, although it does make me wonder why anyone reads this journal.

1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Learned to bodyfly.

I know, I know, you're fascinated... )

In the spirit of the current 'if you woke up in bed with me ...' meme:

Subtlety? I've heard of it.

If I was feeling better, I'd hunt up a load of these from other people's journals and see how many of them can be read as applying to me just as well as (or better than) this one does.

What Flavour Are You? I am Chocolate Flavoured.I am Chocolate Flavoured.

I am sweet and a little bit naughty. I am one of the few clinically proven aphrodisiacs. Sometimes I can seem a little hard, but show warmth and I soon melt.

(If you were not Chocolate you would be Vanilla.)

What Flavour Are You?

What Flavour Are You? I am Vanilla Flavoured.I am Vanilla Flavoured.

I am one of the most popular flavours in the world. Subtle and smooth, I go reasonably with anyone, and rarely do anything to offend. I can be expected to be blending in in society.

[livejournal.com profile] spikeylady invited me to ramble on the subject of these icons...

Hobbes

Hobbes

I love Calvin and Hobbes. Like many people probably, I see myself as a mixture of the two characters, but I lean more towards Hobbes and his laid-back, zen, pass-the-tuna-sandwich approach to life :)

I tend to use this icon when I'm being happy/carefree/silly, and often use it when I'm posting webcomics.

Wolf

Wolf

Self-portrait ;) The outfit was assembled for a Halloween party at a rock club in Dunstable, and was actually just a mask I bought from a card shop, and a jacket I bought from a trendy girls' clothes shop and turned inside out. Headbanging in that outfit was VERY HOT.

This icon was made entirely for the benefit of [livejournal.com profile] ninneviane, who doesn't have a kink about werewolves at all, honest. ;)

Gimp

Gimp

I can't remember ever using this icon, although I may have done so once or twice. I don't actually like rubber hoods, but I couldn't resist the image when I saw it in a advert for a council recycling scheme.

Goating in progress

Goating in progress

This icon was made by [livejournal.com profile] zeke_hubris, and is related to The Reformed Order of the Holy Goat. You should probably just read the link :)

Gluargh!

Gluargh!

Photo taken by [livejournal.com profile] libellum I think, in [livejournal.com profile] avalon_bliss's back garden. We were having a BBQ/padding pool/sitting around in the sun kind of party, and she started taking photos... I tried to eat the camera at a crucial moment.

I use this icon when I'm being deliberately weird, or possibly very very far from sober :)

If you'd like me to pick a bunch of your icons for you to explain or otherwise talk about in your journal, leave a comment :)

> Four jobs you may not have known I have had in my life:

1. Martins: sales assistant (or 'till girl' as the assistant manager liked to call me)
2. Mr Minit: general assistant (cutting keys, re-heeling shoes, shooting things with the nailgun with my boss's full approval and occasional coaching)
3. Abbey National General Insurance: claims advisor (hated it - a team of middle-aged women and me; in my early 20s, all long hair, tattoos and motorbike - let's just say I didn't fit in very well)
4. Open University: office temp (I was actually a research assistant (i.e. low-paid developer working on an academic proof of concept project), but it was easier to get funding approval for an office temp, so that was my job title)

more than four questions )
denny: (EPIC FAIL)
Meme, as follows:

Write a personal ad for yourself (in which you assume that you are single or otherwise available).

1) It has to make you sound as unappealing as possible
2) It has to be honest - you can't lie at all
3) It can't sound as though you're deliberately making yourself sound unappealing.

Mine:

"Broken-hearted middle-aged already-attached computer programmer, doesn't drink, detests smoking, seeks pretty young things for rough kinky sex and possible deep meaningful romance."

First attempt:
Your speed was: 64wpm.

Congratulations! You made no mistakes, practice does make perfect.

Quite a bit slower than when I was at uni, but I got a lot more practise at typing large blocks of text back then. Wow, essays... don't miss those at all :) Slightly surprised by the (lack of) error rate - considering most of my typing these days is on IRC.

Heh.
