Yes, Idoru was a snooze, but I have returned to Pattern Recognition (in my head) over and over again. Very few books of late have held on that tenaciously - American Gods is about the only one that comes to mind.

I wasn't half as impressed with American Gods as Neverwhere. I've not spoken to anyone else who agrees with me on that though :)
