Glade festival is the same weekend as [livejournal.com profile] libellum's brother's wedding. Argh.

I really want to go to Glade this year - [livejournal.com profile] denari's review last year sold it with no questions asked - but on the other hand, I do really like her brother, and he won't be getting married again next year. I say again, argh.

Does Emily Post have anything to say on this one?

Can you go to the wedding and do the festival the day after, or is that not viable?

Festival is Friday/Saturday/Sunday, wedding is Saturday, so probably not a realistic option. Even if they're near each other, I probably wouldn't be fit to drive on the Saturday.

I have worked ( built and run the stages ) at glade for the last two, maybe three years, not sure if we are there again this year, it's always quite fun.

Don't forget, it's also one of your last chances to see my parents before they disappear off the ends of the earth. And you wouldn't want to miss my dad dancing like a ... well, a dad a wedding, would you?

Since you're asking about etiquette, some might consider it marginally more polite to have this discussion privately, rather than in front of the happy couple, and then make your apologies if necessary once you've reached a decision. It should be obvious that those at the wedding would rather you joined them, and likewise those at Glade; are you expecting anyone else to have an opinion other than "work out what your priorities are, and decide on that basis"?

Some might. I very definitely do not.

I expect people to have all kinds of opinions, about most things. I don't necessarily intend to act on them, but it's often interesting to discuss them.
