The article appears to be written from the PoV of a heterosexual female. As far as I can see, it doesn't make any claims that there aren't an equivalent set of benefits to be found for guys by choosing geeky girls - it's just not what that article is about...
more to the point, it seems to be written for American, hip, heterosexual, high-school age girls who otherwise would be going out with jocks. taking into account those limitations I didn't really expect it not to be offensively over-stereotyped. There was a certain amount of irony in my comment, but I wanted to make it anyway :)
