Hmph. this is so gendered. who says girls can't be geeks too?!

As a geek, I kinda found the whole thing patronising and somewhat offensive, and as a geek who's lover is a geek, i have to agree with you there!

are you using that in the sense you have them, you like them, or you know lots about them? ;)

also in these icons, we appear to have the same smirk. weird.

That I like them... it's an IRC thing - more specifically, an infobot thing:

< denny > karma geeky girls
< dipsy > geeky girls has neutral karma
< denny > (geeky girls)++
< denny > karma geeky girls
< dipsy > geeky girls has karma of 1

smirks++ :)

As I recall, I was in a very predatory mood when this picture was taken... what's your excuse? :)

ah: I was reading it as geek code, which is ambiguous.

my excuse? It's intended as wry and playful. I was a bit tipsy. Does it look predatory?! Eek!

No, you don't look predatory. You do look wryly amused though...

... ang big-nosed, which is why I like it. I like big noses.

I'd be very worried if I looked predatory! I had someone teasingly call me "ma'am" on LJ earlier today, which was a bit of a shock! Reallyno...

The article appears to be written from the PoV of a heterosexual female. As far as I can see, it doesn't make any claims that there aren't an equivalent set of benefits to be found for guys by choosing geeky girls - it's just not what that article is about...

more to the point, it seems to be written for American, hip, heterosexual, high-school age girls who otherwise would be going out with jocks. taking into account those limitations I didn't really expect it not to be offensively over-stereotyped. There was a certain amount of irony in my comment, but I wanted to make it anyway :)

Yes, I thought it was a bit sexist too. Kind of sweet though.

It's so true though!

Lady geeks, I think, would be good girlfriends too.
