denny: Photo of my face in profile - looking to the right (Default)
From [livejournal.com profile] katyha; apparently when I hug my friends (and even worse, my dad), it's a faux-american nervous tic.

There was plenty of hugging at Planet Angel on Friday*. Much fun was had by all, and the resident hippies are every bit as friendly as I was promised. They even let me do glow-poi on their 'no poi on the dancefloor' dancefloor, because it was "well pretty, man" and I had a crowd watching me at the time. [livejournal.com profile] bluecassandra and her 'little' sister were looking particularly fabulous.

[livejournal.com profile] libellum and myself left a few minutes before the end, had an extremely short drive back to mine (London with no traffic is remarkably pleasant to drive through), and got ourselves eight hours sleep in preparation for...

Torture Garden on Saturday night. Lots more fun than PA, so it must have been pretty damn good. I juggled shiny things a lot, replaced my glow-poi audience of the night before with a 'beating my girlfriend with various implements' crowd, on pretty much exactly the same spot (TG has the dungeon where PA has the main dancefloor), grinned while said girlfriend ran around the club waylaying any girls who made eye contact with her and snogging them (she did such a good job on one little oriental girl that said girl went off and came back with a friend!!), and got told by one very animated guy that we 'defined' TG for him. We may have been doing something rude on the dancefloor a few minutes before that**. :-D

Sunday we drove home, got another eight hours of solid sleep, then reluctantly eased back into consciousness. At this point I had the brilliant idea of going to the flower market around the corner from my place and buying [livejournal.com profile] libellum a few flowers. I bought the place out of roses, then bulked them up a bit with carnations - final count was 160 roses and 80 carnations I believe. It was quite funny watching her try to find enough containers to put them all in when we got back to her place. Especially when one container turned out to have a resident spider of impressive size - I reckon he was good for a handspan when he waved his legs around (which he was doing quite a lot, as [livejournal.com profile] libellum had put water in the pot before spotting him).

In between getting back to mine with the flowers and getting them to their new home, we also had a visit from [livejournal.com profile] romauld and [livejournal.com profile] elise, and the four of us wandered down Brick Lane and I ate some of the most unlikely things. Anyone familiar with my fussiness over food would be either proud of me, or deeply shocked :) I might pop down there again in future... I doubt it was very healthy, but at least it was different.

At [livejournal.com profile] libellum's place there were also residents [livejournal.com profile] strongtrousers and [livejournal.com profile] glamwhorebunni, and we all spent a few hours nattering before eventually I gave [livejournal.com profile] elise a lift to Kings Cross (although possibly the wrong bit, I realised this morning), and then crawled home into bed. And then read until gone midnight, which was foolish. (Getting up this morning)--

Waking up this morning was particularly unpleasant as my habitual check of my mobile for text messages revealed that my kid brother had been bottled at 2am last night and was currently in hospital being treated for serious head wounds. Apparently he's going to be okay - my mum rang me as I was walking to work to give me the details - but still, not the best news to start a Monday with.

So that was the weekend that was. I feel remarkably intact considering I just did two all-night clubs... maybe I'm not quite as old as I've been feeling lately :) Now to try to write some code, ugh.

* also some kissing of men (with facial hair), so I'm just losing manliness and Britishness points all over the place here.
** in related news, [livejournal.com profile] libellum has apparently learnt to breathe through her ears.
