Money will be refunded within 5 working days, I get a form in the post to sign and return, if I do so then I get to keep the refund... they'll retrieve the monies from the companies it went to in their own good time. He looked at the month I couldn't find the statements for and found two O2 PAYG top-ups as well, so they've been added to the pile.

One of the transactions was to Hackney Council - I'm on the phone to them at the minute, they think it's a parking ticket, which is interesting; presumably that would link the dodgy transactions to a car numberplate, which quite possibly isn't stolen if they're bothering to pay the tickets for it...

Glad its all worked out for you and that your bank is a lot more useful than mine, it took nearly 3 months to get my funds back :(

You may have a chance of finding out who stole yours then, better than I managed! Whoever cloned mine stole over £2k in three days, using the last bit to buy a one way ticket to a different country under a false name! (I suspect mine was probably not the only card that was cloned by this person(s)...)

Fortunately, I got it all back without question just a week after reporting it, so it was all in all not that painful.

Reading back (missed the first post), I bet the reason the website is so keen to have you contact them first on fraudulent payments is to avoid getting hit with the chargeback fees. In case of a disputed charge, the credit card company will take back the amounts charged plus more (handling charge, penalty fee or whatever they call it) - whereas if the website just credits the money back onto your card, then there's no extra fee.

Anyway, glad it got sorted, good luck tracking the bastard down :)
