2 minutes silence in memory of 7/7 last year starts in 1 minute. Just in case you'd forgotten, as I had.

Edit: gotta love the woman who, when receiving a call on her mobile in the middle of Hoxton Square in the middle of the silence, proceeded to yell "Hello... Yeah... Yeah, it's really quiet out here today..." :-P

I missed it.
I am never any good with silences anyway, I dont think about people or anything - just how much longer I have to stand there like a lemon and whether anyone else is actually remembering people or if they are also just wondering how long is left or whether anyone else is remembering anyone...

its not even like a have a hat I can take off or anything...

I spent the two minutes thinking about the political (etc) mess that got us into this in the first place. The deaths were sad, but as someone else on my friends list has just pointed out, more people die on the road every day...

Something close to that many people die of hunger during each two minute silence, as I pointed out last time we had one...

I used to work with a really oblivious woman. She once continued her conversation merrily into the silence on Remembrance Day, and when she realised (after about 30 seconds) that no-one else was talking, muttered, "Well, I didn't know!" There's a clock on the computer, a watch on your wrist, clocks all around the office...
(Someone once affronted her by accusinger her of sounding common. In a loud bristolian accent, she shouted, "I not common!" We all laughed.)
