My car was declared ready for collection yesterday evening after all, so I went and picked it up today. Hooray.

Now I just have to get through 500 miles without breaking 3000rpm, and another 500 of 'taking it easy' as I gradually ramp the revs back up to normal levels. At the minute it's like driving a learner bike all over again - not enough power available to get out of trouble, or out of everyone else's way. I think I'll go for a lot of long drives in the evenings for the next couple of weeks, try to get it over and done with.

Hoorah !...If you go for long drives to run the engine in, don't just sit at the same spped / revs, vary the revs and speed so as not to " glaze " the running surfaces or " bores ".

Yep, will bear that in mind. Might come and see you next weekend, if you've got a few hours free at some point?

Yay!

Do you have as much problem starting it now? Any other things to comment on (perhaps it's a little early just yet)?

What work did you end up having done to it?

It starts extremely happily now, and runs fine straight away, as you'd expect.

Other than that, I can't really comment on it at all, because of the limits on how I should drive it right now - I'm not using the car anything like the way I used it before, so I have no basis for comparison. Ask me in a few weeks :)

It's been rebuilt with some mild porting work, exhaust downpipe exchanged for one without a pre-cat, turbo pack swapped for one without a blown gasket, and clutch plate replaced with one that's nearly new instead of nearly dead. Total cost, 3900 pounds.

Ah, good to know the other problems have cleared up with the engine rebuild - I suppose you'd sort of expect that really.

....hello and hello to the Rx7 -

What a sweet car.

Very nice.

Very impressed.

A very favourite car for me to look for, as there are only about 3 round here - Rotarys with twin sequential turbos - Very tasty... None of this non turbo RX8 stuff...

Got to be blown :-)

Wish I could have one - Wish I could afford to go sideways in one!!
