Web Vigilanteism
Jun. 13th, 2006 08:51 pmSo some sad little tosspot has set up yet another one of those 'win me my threesome' websites, that when you check into the domain registration details (one, two) turns out to actually be an advertisement for an adult products webshop that he also runs.
This particular moron has put a 5MB embedded video file on his site, a rather horrible staged affair with him and his gf 'striking the deal'.
The following cronjob downloads said movie file once every two minutes. I've been running it for almost 24 hours already. I hope his bandwidth charges are nice and high.
denny@serenity ~ $ crontab -l
# m h dom mon dow command
*/2 * * * * wget -O /tmp/meandkatie.wmv -r http://www.pleasemakethiswork.com/meandkatie.wmv
Incidentally,two three four at least six of my friends are running the same cronjob as well... that's about at least 10GB 12GB 15GB 20GB a day between us. Feel free to join in the fun and strike a blow for honesty and good taste on the 'net ;) Repost this in your own journals if you want to spread the love a bit further...
Updates:
Instructions on how to set up the Windows equivalent of the cronjob are here:

For Linux users, it's actually more efficient to use a tight shell loop than a cronjob:
denny@serenity ~ $ while true; do wget -O /tmp/meandkatie.wmv -r http://www.pleasemakethiswork.com/meandkatie.wmv; done
