Web Vigilanteism
Jun. 13th, 2006 08:51 pmSo some sad little tosspot has set up yet another one of those 'win me my threesome' websites, that when you check into the domain registration details (one, two) turns out to actually be an advertisement for an adult products webshop that he also runs.
This particular moron has put a 5MB embedded video file on his site, a rather horrible staged affair with him and his gf 'striking the deal'.
The following cronjob downloads said movie file once every two minutes. I've been running it for almost 24 hours already. I hope his bandwidth charges are nice and high.
denny@serenity ~ $ crontab -l
# m h dom mon dow command
*/2 * * * * wget -O /tmp/meandkatie.wmv -r http://www.pleasemakethiswork.com/meandkatie.wmv
Incidentally,two three four at least six of my friends are running the same cronjob as well... that's about at least 10GB 12GB 15GB 20GB a day between us. Feel free to join in the fun and strike a blow for honesty and good taste on the 'net ;) Repost this in your own journals if you want to spread the love a bit further...
Updates:
Instructions on how to set up the Windows equivalent of the cronjob are here:
http://dennyd.livejournal.com/513778.html?thread=2884082#t2884082
For Linux users, it's actually more efficient to use a tight shell loop than a cronjob:
denny@serenity ~ $ while true; do wget -O /tmp/meandkatie.wmv -r http://www.pleasemakethiswork.com/meandkatie.wmv; done

Extract to c:\wget (or wherever).
Create a batch file such as c:\wget\pmtw.bat :
Under Win2K at least:
Start->Settings->Control Panel->Scheduled Tasks->Add Scheduled Task
Using the wizard, select the .bat file as the program to run. For now select Daily and basically click through everything (except you'll probably have to enter your password) until the last page and check "Open advanced properties..." before hitting Finish. Under Schedule->Advanced you can set the repeat to every two minutes (or whatever your net connection can manage.)

Date: 2006-06-14 11:42 am (UTC)Apparently it's a set of Units - Unit C is Darker Enterprises Ltd, which according to Companies House, used to be (changed 22/01/1988) "FINANCIAL RECOVERY SERVICES (EUROPE) LIMITED". ( http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/6a8bee709791d592ae2efd6e585b2846/compdetails )
HornyDevil.co.uk says it is "Quietlynn Ltd", which interestingly is at Unit A of the same address: http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/6a8bee709791d592ae2efd6e585b2846/compdetails
Oddly though, when you go to their FAQ: http://www.hornydevil.co.uk/shop/FAQ.htm the address is: Quietlynn BV, Postbus 1230, 1000BE, Amsterdam NL.
Unit A appears to be shared with NoLanLight Ltd:
http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/6a8bee709791d592ae2efd6e585b2846/compdetails
As you said, it's a sex shop - http://www.newsandstar.co.uk/classifieds/results.aspx?classID=287&GroupID=1 : "Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 Notice of Application for Renewal of a Sex Establishment Licence To all persons whom it may concern NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that we DARKER ENTERPRISES LIMITED of UNIT C, 26 THAMES ROAD, BARKING, ESSEX IG11 0JA on 6 JUNE 2006 made application to Carlisle City Council being the licensing authority for the purposes of section 2 of the Act, for the renewal of a licence to use the premises situate at and known as PRIVATE SHOP, 6 LONDON ROAD, CARLISLE CA1 2EL as a sex establishment. Any person objecting to the application must give notice in writing of such objection to the said Council at Civic Centre, Carlisle CA3 8QG stating in general terms the grounds for such objection, not later than 28 days after 6 June 2006 being the date of the application. Signed: CC Mason on behalf of Darker Enterprises"
Now, reading here (http://www.melonfarmers.co.uk/arsssh03.htm) (search for "thames" to find the 2nd September entry) Darker Enterprises is also known as or linked to Conegate Ltd.
Now Conegate's address is
RAMILLIES HOUSE
RAMILLIES STREET
LONDON
W1F 7LN
(from http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/6a8bee709791d592ae2efd6e585b2846/compdetails)
and the registrar for both previously mentioned domains is NetCollex - who provide "mobile content" (from their website read as "expensive mobile porn").
Oh, and look where its address is:
NETCOLLEX LIMITED
RAMILLIES HOUSE
2 RAMILLIES STREET
LONDON W1F 7LN
http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/6a8bee709791d592ae2efd6e585b2846/compdetails
What a big happy tied together family of companies they all seem to be...
