Oh yes, mornings. Now I remember.

Today == first day at work. I'm allowed to start at "midday-ish" for up to four weeks while I find somewhere in London to live - this allows me to avoid peak-hour train fares (and, happily, pre-8am mornings).

Flat hunting has so far been unproductive - not because the flats are bad, but because the agencies letting them don't seem keen to answer their phones, read/listen to their messages, or return my calls. I've seen two places so far, one was nice but small and a long walk from work, the other was expensive and grotty. At least they give me something to judge the rest against, if I ever see the rest...

First day at work was fine, natives seem friendly enough. Commuting is bleurgh even with the excessively reasonable hours I'm being allowed to get away with, but I think I'll live.

I have a few flats lined up for viewing tomorrow and Wednesday. I've realised that TG have an event on my birthday (next Friday), so my personal deadline is to have London crashspace of my very own by then. Typically it's not at their usual venue (which would be more convenient to the locations I'm looking to live), but at least it'll only be a long taxi ride away (I think). Or an extremely long walk. Or wait an hour for the tube to open on Saturday morning, which seems like the most likely option now that I think about it.

And now, I think I'll go to bed. Got to get up for work soon...
