Oh yes, mornings. Now I remember.

Today == first day at work. I'm allowed to start at "midday-ish" for up to four weeks while I find somewhere in London to live - this allows me to avoid peak-hour train fares (and, happily, pre-8am mornings).

Flat hunting has so far been unproductive - not because the flats are bad, but because the agencies letting them don't seem keen to answer their phones, read/listen to their messages, or return my calls. I've seen two places so far, one was nice but small and a long walk from work, the other was expensive and grotty. At least they give me something to judge the rest against, if I ever see the rest...

letting agents are crappy in London. They can afford to be, of course, since there are so many people looking.

Flat-hunting in London is bloody awkward and a complete nightmare. It's worth picking up a Post and an Evening Standard if you're brave enough to rent privately. Having seen how 'professional' some of the agencies are (so many I saw were practically run out of a car boot with a mobile phone), I'm not so sure there's much difference.

Good luck.

I found the most effective way to get them to pay attention was to actually go in to their offices; if nothing else, it proved they *had* offices.

long walk from work

Are you in a fit state to use a pedal cycle yet? If so, get one.

Well done for getting employed.

If you're looking for a room, www.moveflat.com is good, as is thegumtree.co.uk (think extension is right).

Leg is still slowly improving - I can walk without limping too much now, if the weather is okay, I've been up for and walking around for long enough to warm it up, and I haven't been up and walking around for long enough for it to start hurting. Um, so that's for about half an hour a day or so, the rest of the time I still limp :)

I should be picking the keys up for my new flat this weekend, if all goes to plan... I'll be living near Colliers Wood tube station.

Yeah, could do. Life is still in transition right now, but once things ease up a bit (and I get my bloody 'net connection at home working) then I'll be on here looking for things to do and people to see (or was that the other way around?) :-P

Do you go along to TG at all? I'm pretty much guaranteed to be at all their main events from now on, if I can possibly help it.

Have dropped out of the scene at the moment. but might be persuaded if I only had to dance.

Let me know when your free and we will see what interesting diversion/perversions we can think of!
