I'm not yet convinced it's useful to be honest, but I'm giving it a chance to make its case - sometimes these things aren't obvious.
So far it's a bit like a cross between LJ and the FB friends' statuses page. I tend to read it on the bus or in similar moments of boredom.
Also it does SMS notifications still, so you can use it like Twitter if you want - although you can't be selective about who you get SMS from (currently).
