Good morning,

I wanted to contact you regarding your request for information on companies looking for
Perl Developers at present. I specialise in LAMP, Perl & PHP recruitment and I work
differently to other recruiters out there in that I have live roles so to speak on my
desk but I also have the networking advantage of being able to get you out into the
market place and create opportunities for you.

I understand you’ll probably want to check me out before we speak please feel free to
look at my linkedin profile page this will tell you a lot more about my services & my
approach to recruitment; which is different to other agencies. It will also allow you
to read some of my testimonials both from Developers like yourself and from Clients I
work with http://www.linkedin.com/in/susanhailstones

Please also check out my microsite to learn more about me and my approach
http://www.people-direct.com/perl

If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to come to me directly and ask.

I am sure you’ll receive many emails regarding that post! So I will leave it up to you
to come back to me If you are interested in discussing things further.

I wish you the best of luck in your search :)

Kind regards

Susan Hailstones

I am literally crying with laughter.

In other news, 10am this morning was the official meeting to decide if there was any alternative to being made redundant. I agreed that there wasn't in my opening sentence, established that I'd like the extra money for leaving quietly about two sentences later, made small talk for a while and was home before half past.

So, if anyone hears of any interesting jobs going for developers, please do bring them to my attention, or me to theirs - cheers. I've already got a few good leads but more choice is always a good thing in these circumstances.

Evidently you didn't leave that lasting an impression on her before. Perhaps this is an opportunity to ensure that? :-p

I adore you forever simply for using the correct spelling of "ensure".

Wow. I've never had anyone's adoration simply for correct use of language.

My mum was quite strict with me on my pronunciation as a kid ("teeth" not "teef"), and when I was at secondary school I lived with my Dad and Stepmum, and she was a primary school English teacher, which helped.

I'd consider myself good at writing, but not great. Grammar was generally my weaker point, although I think I've improved quite a bit.

I must admit I get annoyed when I read a sentence where the writer has mixed up "they're", "their", and "there".

Anyway, thank you. :-)

Just to reply to myself, as I can't edit my post - I do however understand if the writer's first language isn't English. Plus, we all make mistakes when we are tired...

I've been beta-ing fanfic for my housemate every now and again, and she shows me stuff she particularly likes as well; these writers seem to have no idea what a difference it makes to use "insure". Your comment heals my eyes :) so thankyou.

The financial sector does use a lot of Perl, but they pay well for obvious reasons; hard work, long hours, high-stress environment. I'm not sure I'm that desperate to have more money.

Ok, fair point - partly why I work for myself - I don't want high stress levels either (although seem to do long hours anyway, with little result)...
