The broadband appears to be working at the new flat, so I guess it's officially 'home' now.

The new place is covered in bags full of clothing, boxes full of books, and boxes full of random crap... so, as anyone who visited either of my last two residences is no doubt saying, no change there. Of course, this time I am resolved to actually unpack them all and get it all sorted out and tidied away and generally be a grown-up.

Hey, it could happen.

I actually went back to the old place to let the agents and a potential new tenant in today, and realised that I'd left one of my mirrors on the wall when I emptied the last of my stuff out of there last night. So, as of lunchtime today, all my stuff is definitely out of there. Probably.

In other news, I have an ulcer on the side of my tongue that's bigger than some of my teeth. If I have conversations more than about four sentences long, it actually becomes so debilitatingly painful that I have to sit down, and often starts bleeding. Fun! Still, it's only been there a week or so, I'm sure it'll go away any day now. And on the bright side, the pain level of eating has meant that mostly I haven't been, so I've lost at least a stone at a guess. My cheekbones are looking good. ;)

Oh yeah, the decoration at the new place is really seriously bad. I bought it off a retired couple, and it looks like something out of a late '70s Ideal Home Magazine. I have chandeliers. If anybody can recommend a painter and decorator based in the London area (or willing to work in central London anyway) then please do let me know, I'm very very keen to hire one (or two) ASAP.

Long ago a relised the only way to deal with mouth ulcers is all out war.

Rinse your mouth out with TCP.
This does sting a bit, but if you do it morning and night you'll lose the ulcer inside 3 days.

grats on the flat. When in the officail unveiling?

Need to find the decorator first and get that sorted - until they're done, I can't really unpack, as I need to be able to keep everything in one room while the other (empty) one gets revamped, and then vice versa.

Oh, ouch. Poor you! I second the recommendation for Corsodyl. Wonderful stuff. Well, evil and it makes everything taste funny, but it works. You have to use it until a day after the mouth ulcer has disappeared though (antibiotic principle).

I would recommend Boots mouth ulcer gel over Bonjella, as it has more of an antiseptic quality, doesn't just numb the pain. Bonjella's certainly a lot better than nothing though.

And on the bright side, the pain level of eating has meant that mostly I haven't been, so I've lost at least a stone at a guess.

Eeeep! But you're already quite thin, aren't you! Do Not Want!

Nah, I'm medium-sized these days... over 12 stone usually. The long period of inactivity following the bike crash added 3 stone to my average weight :)

Virgin Media, AKA Telewest. It's just luck of the draw really, depends how new the cables and junction boxes are in your street/neighbourhood I think.

Also, run the test a lot of times and see what kind of range you get - I regularly get everything from 'less than 4 Mb/s' to 'more than 10 Mb/s' if i just keep hitting the button repeatedly, it's really random... my average is probably only somewhere between 6 and 8 Mb/s.

Ahh I'm feeling slightly better now then, I'm ranging around the same, no scores anywhere near as high as the one you posted, but more in the range you mentioned.. our local instalation is around 10 years old, we were a trial area that went comercial so no doubt we had the best then, and the worst now...also not sure but I still have an old teryon cable modem from teh original install, I'm sure I read on nthell that they were capped rate ???

As for the weight... I'd be happier with the 12+ stone if more of it was on my arms/chest/legs, and less of it on my gut :) I guess I should get myself back to the gym!
