Does anybody know where the docs are for the 'share this link with your friends' API on MySpace and/or Bebo? I'm assuming they do have such a feature, but neither their help pages nor Google searches are finding me what I need to know...

Sorry, can't help. But maybe you can help me? I'm looking for a fetish club in London this weekend, do you know of anything good on?

You did specifically ask for something good :) There are several clubs on this weekend, but that's the only one I've been to and liked.

It's a bit like a smaller version of TG, in that it's more about dancefloor and a generally sexual vibe rather than being focussed around the dungeon area (although it does have a reasonable one). It's up to you whether you think TG is good or not, obviously.

The music at Club RUB was bloody awful for the first hour when I went, but pretty good for the rest of the night.

Sounds good to me. I had a look through the site and it may well be just the thing. Thank you

You know my thoughts on TG. If I can ever prevent people from attending that fashion show, I will.

Fetish clubs are meant to be fashion shows - or at least heavily focussed on the outfits - that's what the fetish scene is about.

Your boyfriend tried to go to TG in combat trousers from what I remember? If he'd got in, I'd have been disappointed with them personally. There is a reason for dress codes, and they do a lot more good than harm, stopping a lot of unsuitable people from wandering in and making a nuisance of themselves. If you could get in wearing combat trousers and a t-shirt the place would be full of drunken single men trying to grope every passing woman.

Also, combat trousers aren't much fun to look at - a fetish club is about the outfits, you have to make an effort to contribute to the overall effect. If people find the idea of having to dress up offensive then they should go to a BDSM club - not a fetish club. Although most of those have at least some dress code (for similar reasons), it's generally not as strict, because the clothes aren't the main focus of the event.

He wasn't wearing a T-shirt. (Though, he would have preferred to, I actually "dressed" him up in another shirt). As we were being rejected, there were at least 2 people allowed in with a dress shirt and tie, as well as 1 guy with ripped jeans (that matched his exciting zombie outfit). For the "overall effect", I figure being "foreigners" should at least have given us some credit because 1) we obviously came a long way, and 2) our cultures obviously have some different values and ideas about what "street clothes" are.

I felt not just offended by the idea of having to undress in the cold outside of the club just to be inspected from some cunt with an attitude problem. Frankly, I just assume that people in the UK are used to this kind of treatment as they grew up forced into uniforms, so they assume uniforms to be a part of every aspect of life. I'm sorry you'd be more upset if they allowed someone wear pants that weren't "cool" enough than the fact that they rejected 2 people that went on your recommendation. But, to be honest, I've been a part of alternative scenes for longer than some of those kids have been alive, and I guess I almost feel this is my time to depart, since community seems to be worthless compared to fashion.

As far as I'm concerned, they stole 50 pounds plus another 50 in cab fare. While I had been looking forward to going due to yours and Tove's recommendations, I was sadly disappointed in the asinine rules (and varied regulation of them). Obviously, next time I go to the UK (likely as my brother lives there now), I won't be supporting that group.

I'd be inclined to agree personally, but I suspect TG gets so many foreigners at every single event that it's not something they give so much credit to any more.

I felt not just offended by the idea of having to undress in the cold outside of the club just to be inspected from some cunt with an attitude problem.

I've always found that a quick flash of some 'non-standard' fabric either under my jacket or in my bag has been enough to get me in, on the odd occasion that I'm not already wearing enough visible non-street clothes to get me in anyway. Possibly you'd have inspected less thoroughly yourself if your partner had been dressed appropriately.

Frankly, I just assume that people in the UK are used to this kind of treatment as they grew up forced into uniforms, so they assume uniforms to be a part of every aspect of life.

Eh?? What uniforms? If you're talking about the military, the USA had the draft a lot more recently than the UK did.

Can I encourage you to post a rant to UK Fetish Info (http://ukfetish.info) please? :)

I was thinking of the school uniforms that is required by all the students - even to the point where girls can't even wear bracelets.

Ah! :)

Half of the schools don't have actual uniforms (just dress codes, e.g. no miniskirts etc), but yeah - I see where you're coming from now. Although rules against jewellery are probably motivated by either health and safety or anti-crime thinking, rather than being part of the uniform per se.

The original idea of school uniforms was apparently (a) to make students skipping school highly conspicuous, and (b) to mean that rich students couldn't be ostentatiously 'cooler' than poor students. Neither really seems to work any more because (a) nobody cares and (b) they just buy expensive versions of the uniform - so a lot of schools are giving up on the idea afaict.

MySpace and Bebo have APIs that will enable this kind of stuff but they won't be enabled to late Q1 at the earliest.

Is that related to the Google opensocial stuff?

No no - not at all - both MS & Bebo already had this in the pipeline before Google announced Android and the Open Handset Alliance.

This info come directly from meetings we (SpinVox) had with them about setting up a similar product that we currently offer for facebook...

In both instances the response was: Sure, as soon as our API is ready.

In regards to Google etc - I attended The Future of Mobile yesterday and watched Dave Burke talk about Android and the OHA in detail.

Was quite interesting. This is more along the lines of their mobile strategy but of course long term, I'm pretty sure this will plug into their open social stuff.
