Ooooooooog.

Spent from midnight to eight AM making half-hourly trips to the bathroom to empty my stomach by one method and another. Didn't get to sleep until something like 9am, when I got a few 20 minute snatches of sleep in-between a few more bathroom trips. Denny feel BAD.

Currently trying to work up the bravery to attempt to eat some soup and bread to settle my stomach a bit, as it's been very empty for the last six hours or so. Said stomach is really trying to indicate very strongly that eating would be a bad idea, but I think it's probably wrong at this stage. Every time I drink something my stomach does back-rolls, it needs something to tamp it down a bit.

Ooog.

At one point last night, I'd already thrown up everything I'd eaten yesterday, and was trying to settle my stomach a bit by sipping cold water. I got about halfway through a 2 litre bottle and then threw up all the water too, still cold, which was an odd sensation. I think I know how gargoyles must feel.

Did anyone else get a dodgy stomach from the picnic, or was I the only lucky one? I only had a few drinks of Pimms, and nothing stronger, so it's got to have been something I ate.

Sorry, mate... I sincerely hope it wasn't my tuna pasta that did it...

Seems unlikely, or half the party would be laid up, yourself included.

True: I guess yours had *less* ingredients, so anything in it was also in the rest.

Ooooooh, I know the cold water throw-up - distinctly not pleasant.

I've heard (ie, been told and haven't actually researched it myself, but have tried it and it appears to work) that water is a Bad thing to drink when throwing up, as it'll make you throw up more. Something with calorific value is said to be the way to go. I generally try to have ribena handy for the sipping - tastes notsobad on the way back if timing's misjudged, has calorific value, and vitamin c.

Hope you feel better soon.

I'll try to bear that in mind for next time. I don't end up hugging my toilet very often, as I don't drink, so I always find it very confusing when I do find myself there.

I did just buy some Ribena (and some of the sports Lucozade stuff) to try and top up on energy a bit, but like I said any liquid just seems to be causing my stomach to rebel at this stage.

I still don't want to eat though. Oog.

Just think of the workout your stomach muscles are getting!

(I excel in being less-than-helpful) ;)

Another thing to be sure of is slow sippin'. I generally (I'm not quite as practised as I sound, honest) start by sipping just enough to wet the inside of my mouth. If that works with no stomachular turbulence for a while, I might allow myself to swallow a bit.

Be well!

I generally have a strawberry flavoured natural yoghurt on hand, for much the same reasons. But it is sometimes a bit too strongly flavoured to be appealing

get better soon.

NHS direct? I was always told not to do solids for 24 hours if I got a stomach bug but that could be rubbish.

You need to get some salts into you. You can get some dioralyte (completely balanced electrolytes, designed for people with vomiting and diorhhea, tastes absolutely foul in all flavours) from the chemist or you can just eat a bit of actual salt, which is not as effective but I've always found easier. If you continue not to be able to keep liquids down then you need to see emergency GP and get an anti nausea medication. I'd offer one but I think we ran out. Peppermint can help.

If no peppermint, ginger is good too. :)

Oh Cra.. Um, perhaps that's inappropriate.

Get well soon, I hope it's just a 24 hour (or less) thing...

I tend to find buttered toast (perhaps with marmite, depending on how you feel and your preference) works for me when I'm feeling delicate.

Don't eat for the first 12-14 hours.
It will give your body time to calm down, empty and clean itself.
If you have, or can get hold of it,try blueberry-juice.
It contains "garvestoff" which should help reduce the visit to your bathroom, (mushed bananas,as well as green or black tea has the same effect), blue colorthingies which have virus and bacteria preventiv effect, lots of sugar, it tastes good, - and it has salt in it.

But drink slowly.. just a little bit at the time.

If you feel better the next day; you can try salty crackers and fine bread. Avoid everythings that is fried, food with lots of fat and products with milk in it for a few days.

If you don't ; try one more day without eating.
