Klein Sexual Orientation Grid

I scored an average of 1.95

01 2 3 4 5 6

HeterosexualBisexualHomosexual

Meaning

This result can also be related to the Kinsey Scale:

0 = exclusively heterosexual
1 = predominantly heterosexual, incidentally homosexual
2 = predominantly heterosexual, but more than incidentally homosexual
3 = equally heterosexual and homosexual
4 = predominantly homosexual, but more than incidentally heterosexual
5 = predominantly homosexual, incidentally heterosexual
6 = exclusively homosexual

Summary

The idea of this excercise is to understand exactly how dynamic a person's sexual orientation can be, as well as how fluid it can be over a person's lifespan. While a person's number of actual homo/heterosexual encounters may be easy to categorize, their actual orientation may be completely different. Simple labels like "homosexual", "heterosexual", and "bisexual" need not be the only three options available to us.

Take the quiz

On the other hand, if you go around calling yourself 'heteroflexible' (we're talking to you, Cosmo readers), I might have to kill you, if only on linguistic grounds.

That word always makes me think of women's gymnastics and sex, at the same time, so I'm not entirely against it :)

Yes, great, but...

a) I note they don't offer any usable alternatives ("hello, I'm predominantly heterosexual, but more than incidentally homosexual")
b) there are already alternatives, although admittedly most of them are trendy and nasty (bicurious, heteroflexible, trysexual, metrosexual). I've heard pansexual and asexual used a lot, which are outside the hetero-bi-homo scale rather than specifying points within it.

Their message seems to be
"The nuances of the English language aren't subtle enough to capture all the elements of a person's sexuality. So....we'll use a number instead. That'll fix it. Any sexual orientation can be perfectly expressed by a number between O and 6".

Me, I'm holding out for an irrational number. I figure I must be about e-sexual

I want pi, but that'll mean I'll have to shag more girls.

A plan with no drawbacks! :D

4.1. Colour me unconvinced about the accuracy of said survey.

Because clearly having straight friends - mainly because I want to punch the vapid disco bunnies that is apparently all there is to gay culture - somehow moves me further towards zero...
