As regular readers may remember, I'm planning to celebrate my 33+1/3 birthday this new year. I was hoping to do so by persuading a lot of my friends to come along to the Planet Angel new year event, which they had hinted at but weren't giving out details for.

The details have now been released [flyer]. To summarise...

Good: it's a party on a boat cruising along the Thames - should be very very nice.
Bad: it's really quite expensive. £55 per ticket, to be exact.

Would anyone want to come if I went ahead with the plan to celebrate the occasion there, or should I look at other options?

It does sound really cool, but I am deathly afraid of deep flowing water and would not be able to get on a boat on the thames :*(

I could not afford that with my trip coming up but I have not planned NYE yet. It is unlikely I will come along whatever you do but I could be tempted by something. Don't count me in but if you do soemthing else there is a small chance i might be tempted. Heh.

I will be coming to see you after that anyway before I leave.

Pie!

It's a bit far to travel from Sydney... and I'm betting the fireworks won't be nearly as good ;)

If you're quick it's 46 quid...still pricey, but not quite as bad.

I changed my answer from "definitely" to "no" when I discovered that a) you still have to pay for your drinks, and b) it only lasts until 2am. Frankly it sounds a bit up itself and not at all like Planet Angel, so I'm not convinced we'll be missing that much. However, in purely financial terms I can afford £55, and if that's what you decide to do, I will accompany you. But having seen the flyer, I just think it might not be the best option after all :/

ps. when are you coming hooooome? *paws at the screen*

What [livejournal.com profile] libellum said really - the flyer looks fun but not spectacular, so I think you should probably look for other things, but if you want to do this I shall join you.

People often see not having to pay for their drinks as a challenge. I'm happy that they're not doing that.

I do agree that it seems a bit...off-message...for Planet Angel - I'd put that down to the fact that they haven't done a Thames Cruise before. :)

When I spoke to Angel the other day, she said they wouldn't be doing the normal lego, plasticine, painting things etc - presumably because the person they hired the boat from wouldn't let them. I reckon they should *buy* a clapped-out old boat and REPAINT IT in UV patterns and do whatever they want with it. That would be worth the money. None of this having to be home by 2am and pretending to be posh! :)

That --> gliding under beautilfully lit bridges at midnight .. is alone enough to tempt me.

Hope you will have lot's of fun.

£55 is quite pricey - with all the other potential expense of the season I'm not entirely sure I could justify it, really.

If I'm in London, though, and there is a cheaper / better option then I'd be glad to come along. I'm beginning to come to the conclusion that our original vague thought about Edinburgh is going to be equally expensive...

I think going outside the house is a bit tricky for me on NYE - realistically it's going tp be impossible to get transport and I can'tr rsik getting stuck soemwhere, pver doing it and then needing to spend 1 week or more recuperating. Also our cash situation is just dire at the moment,

Which is a bugger, cos other than that it looks great.

I don't forsee getting to England for NYE. The plane tickets are too expensive. I am planning on getting to England next year, as my brother's proposed to his British GF. So, the wedding will be there. Perhaps we'll meet then! =)
