My birthday is September 3rd, which is a Sunday this year. I'm fairly set on going here in the daytime... probably in a fairly sideways state of mind and body chemistry:

http://www.dreamspace-agis.com/webesp/2002.htm (note for those confused by the page layout - it's in London on the date in question!)

Anybody interested in coming along?

This year I will be 33, which is a hobbit coming of age. It also, at some point in the last year or so, prompted an odd idea. I decided that as well as having a fairly normal (i.e. low-key (ish (maybe))) birthday celebration this year, I was going to try for something a little major when I was 33+1/3 - partly because I missed out on doing anything major on my 30th due to the accident just before it, but mostly because it just appealed to me as a concept - one last nod to the world of LPs before CDs completely drive them from my rapidly fading memory ;-) This would place the celebration at or around 3rd January 2007, so I'm arbitrarily claiming this year's New Year celebrations, and everything surrounding them, as mine :-P If anyone has any great ideas on what to do, where to do it, or who to do it with (or to ;-) ) then feel free to share them.

Yeah, I noticed you hadn't ticked the second one and realised why - hope you have a good one :)

Cirque de Soliel look very very cool, I haven't seen them yet and I really want to at some point - have fun!

I'd be tempted if it weren't such a pain to get there.

A quick search online suggests it will take me five hours to make it from Edinburgh-Liverpool. (Then again to get home).

The suggested route is Edinburgh -> Glasgow -> Wigan -> Liverpool.

I think I could go Edinburgh -> York -> Liverpool but I'd need to experiment with the god-awful online train sites.

You'd be welcome to sofa or floor space at mine if you did come along for either. Although I hear Scotland does a far better job of new year than the English could ever manage, or indeed survive :)

I'd definitely be interested in Dreamscape, particularly as my birthday is on the 31st August. I'll let you know loser to the time :)

http://traintimes.org.uk/ suggests a 4:45-ish direct journey, although they don't start running until relatively late on the Sunday - earliest is 11am, arriving at nearly 4pm.

Hah, you made the same mistake I keep making every time I type it. It's Dreamspace, not Dreamscape - your old skool raver roots are showing dear :-D

It'd be good to have you there, hope you can make it :)

Damn you, I was going to have a 33.33333333 celebration... I will feel a whole lot less original, BUT would still love to attend (both), especially as Dreamspace looks v pretty.

I've got a family ticket to an 'air race' for the 3rd, so I'm already booked! First free weekend is the one after that. ;)

It was up last year? the year before? (I don't recall) too. Looked really strange when I went past it a fair few times, and given that it really *is* up the road from me, I'd definitely be up for going at some point.

I didn't realise you were that old, though! :-)

Sorry I read your post as two events:

I followed the link for the dreamspace thing and only paid attention to the top half where it says "Liverpool". D'oh!

If it is London it is easier for me to reach, and means I'd be very very tempted. I'd need to confirm nearer the time though

(The new year I'd be either in Edinburgh or in Devon somewhere with [livejournal.com profile] thewomanmeg all being well :)

Heh, I wanna go.. I don't think I can take any time off before next year (as my vacations are all planned until then). But, a quick "getaway" to England for NYE would be interesting, and possibly affordable. You mentioned a couch... =P

No promises.. but the wishes are there!

The couch seems to be acquiring popularity, I may have to organise arm-wrestling for who gets it or something :) But yeah, I'll find you somewhere to sleep if you turn up for NYE. If you sleep :-P

Would have been fun :)
As long as it's not on NYE itself, and within that first week in January, Im only a babysitter away from yes-ing it. And a sleepingplace.
Your couch is looking increasingly busy though. I allways loose the arm-wrestling-thingies. *s*

Well, the party will probably start on Dec 30th and stop sometime around the 6th or 7th of January, if I can get the week off work :) I don't really have any idea what will be happening yet... I'll certainly be clubbing on NYE, at one place or another, but I don't know if that will be the centre-piece of the party or a brief interruption to it.
