My birthday is September 3rd, which is a Sunday this year. I'm fairly set on going here in the daytime... probably in a fairly sideways state of mind and body chemistry:

http://www.dreamspace-agis.com/webesp/2002.htm (note for those confused by the page layout - it's in London on the date in question!)

Anybody interested in coming along?

This year I will be 33, which is a hobbit coming of age. It also, at some point in the last year or so, prompted an odd idea. I decided that as well as having a fairly normal (i.e. low-key (ish (maybe))) birthday celebration this year, I was going to try for something a little major when I was 33+1/3 - partly because I missed out on doing anything major on my 30th due to the accident just before it, but mostly because it just appealed to me as a concept - one last nod to the world of LPs before CDs completely drive them from my rapidly fading memory ;-) This would place the celebration at or around 3rd January 2007, so I'm arbitrarily claiming this year's New Year celebrations, and everything surrounding them, as mine :-P If anyone has any great ideas on what to do, where to do it, or who to do it with (or to ;-) ) then feel free to share them.

I'd be tempted if it weren't such a pain to get there.

A quick search online suggests it will take me five hours to make it from Edinburgh-Liverpool. (Then again to get home).

The suggested route is Edinburgh -> Glasgow -> Wigan -> Liverpool.

I think I could go Edinburgh -> York -> Liverpool but I'd need to experiment with the god-awful online train sites.

You'd be welcome to sofa or floor space at mine if you did come along for either. Although I hear Scotland does a far better job of new year than the English could ever manage, or indeed survive :)

http://traintimes.org.uk/ suggests a 4:45-ish direct journey, although they don't start running until relatively late on the Sunday - earliest is 11am, arriving at nearly 4pm.

Sorry I read your post as two events:

I followed the link for the dreamspace thing and only paid attention to the top half where it says "Liverpool". D'oh!

If it is London it is easier for me to reach, and means I'd be very very tempted. I'd need to confirm nearer the time though

(The new year I'd be either in Edinburgh or in Devon somewhere with [livejournal.com profile] thewomanmeg all being well :)
