I'm not quite sure who won that... I did get out of it with a new bed, which has already been delivered and is sitting in my living room awaiting assembly. On the other hand, Ikea got twice as much of my money as I'd planned, and a fair chunk of my sanity. How does anyone find anything in that place?? I'd probably have happily bought several other things if it wasn't so fucking difficult to find anything that you're interested in - first to look at it, and then again to actually purchase it.

I suspect Ikea are probably ahead on points at this stage.

Anyway, I have a headache, so I'm going to sleep. On my old bed, because there's no way I'm building the new one right now. Apart from anything else the flat is now so very full that I'd have to do it outside :)

* round 1 was when I was 14 or 15... and now I know why my dad looked so harassed for that entire day.

As far as I remember, it's a matter of having a spare day in advance to wander around the place and get to grips with the lay of the land. Then you go back on Purchase Day and visit the areas that you noted down previously, comparing the show examples and mini-brochures to your actual measurements.
Or you can do it all online!
(One warning - their inventory system only displays total stock not yet sold. It [obviously] counts stuff that people have picked up but not yet got to the checkout, and can't distinguish between stock that's at floor level, and stock that's up about half a mile in the racking and needs a forklift to make available.)

Thats probably a good summery.

I've only been twice and only managed to find the stuff on my second visit. The first time round I gave up in disgust.

Still the second time I had a helper-girl who came with me and between us we managed to get everything we were looking for. (Plus she'd rented a van which meant delivery was nice and easy.)

At the end of the day, I like Ikea, and their method of having half the store as a life-size display is good. They just need to sort out their stock keeping abilities a bit...

Hope you're a better handyman than my bf, he spent 3 months before his Ikea bed was all put together. (Wrong parts, got new parts, new parts put in wrong places..etc..)
Finally he gave it away and moved home. I'm still teasing him for it. *smiles*

Oh well.
Nighty handsome.
