From my solicitor:

Just to update you, I have not yet received any response to the Court proceedings in your claim. The time for the opponent solicitors to send me their response, known as the Defence, has now expired.

I have therefore written to the Court to ask them to enter Judgement against the opponent on a full liability (blame) basis. We are entitled to request this as a Judgement in default, as they have not complied with the time limits.

I will let you know as soon as I have any further news.

I'm thinking maybe they're going to concede the liability but argue the value of the claim. Which suits me, because I can stop being pissed off about the whole thing as soon as they admit that it was never my fault.

After that it's just some haggling, which the lawyers can take care of as no doubt they will enjoy it greatly, and hopefully I'll get a deposit for a flat out the other end of it all.

Excellent news, my case dragged on for six years due to fuckwit lawyers, and I got nothing in the end. Learned an awful lot about legal issues and accidents/insurance though, but an expensive lesson for sure.

Hope there's a big fat cheque at the end of it for you.

Hell yeah, and , if my law studies serve me correct and proper, they can no longer contest tohe amount which you seek and by default proceedings will have to pay your costs in addition and not as part of the full and final settlement...well done sir, or rather " Crap job the other side "...:)

Hrm... I don't think they're that stuck, the amount hasn't even been finalised yet due to ongoing medical stuff. I think this part of it was just about the liabillity. However, that's the bit that was really pissing me off, so I'm happy enough if this clears that up. The rest of the haggling bullshit can take its time for all I care.

My aunt is going thru some court crap, it's taking a long time, and a toll on her health and stuff. Shame. =(
