Good news, better news...
Jun. 21st, 2006 12:51 pmSo the good news is that my new keyboard arrived today at work. To realise how much of a Good Thing™ this is, you'd have to have heard me swearing long and loud over the last week or two at the keyboard I got given when I turned up... it's very shiny and pretty, but horrible to use. I now have a Logitech Natural keyboard (and the mouse that comes with it). This is much better. Now I can get on with swearing at my code instead of my hardware :)
The better news is that I've definitely got the flat. It's been over a week since I gave the letting agency all the details for taking up my references, and they hadn't got back to me, so I phoned them up a minute ago to ask if there was a problem... "No, all your references came back fine - I was going to ring you a few days before you move in, to sort out the contract". Great... might have been reassuring to know that I was going to have somewhere to live slightly sooner than that though, no? I don't know how these places stay in business... actually, no, I do - it's because they're all as bad as each other.
I started listening to last.fm at the weekend, something I've been meaning to get around to ever since I saw one of the founders do a presentation on their setup at a Dorkbot a couple of years ago. It desperately needs a 'this classification is FUBAR' button (the 'bands like Prodigy' channel regularly tries to play Meatloaf tracks at me), but other than that it's definitely a Good Thing™. I'm currently getting good summery vibes from the Trance and Hard Trance channels. *chair-boogies*
Yesterday evening saw me taking advantage of my new and improved central London working location, with flying visits to not one but two groups of pub-lurking friends before I mooched off home. A long-overdue chance to see
valkyriekaren, along with
kelemvor, somewhere near Goodge Street, then I moved on to Camden to find the ever-lovely
zellah, the ever-lickable
firebrand, the ever-entertaining
zeke_hubris and the ever-confused
synthclarion. In a pub with no football, yay.
Oh, and finally, my leg still hasn't fallen off. All in all, a fairly good week so far.
