Today my sister's husband left her. Not entirely unexpectedly, but rather abruptly. Downright fucking rudely actually. She's kind of upset, obviously, but mostly she's worried about the financial implications for the moment - they bought my old house off me together, so this leaves her trying to figure out whether she can cover 100k of mortgage on just her (council) salary :-\

In less serious news, I'm about 160 entries behind on my friends page, and likely to fall back further over the next few days (as I have company from out of the country, so I'll be doing touristy stuff). My rule of thumb is 'if it hits 200 then I give up' - so if you've written anything important lately, feel free to comment and point me at it or else I may not read it.

In other random news from today, I finally gathered all my dirty laundry into several HUGE bags, and stuck them all into service wash at a local laundrette. This is going to cost me ~80 quid (yes, there really was a LOT of it), but it does mean I actually have some room in my bedroom to use when I start tidying up the rest of the flat. Although now of course I have a guest turning up, so I don't know how much I will get done. On the bright side, I must have enough socks to last me for a year or more once they're all clean :)

Sucks for your sister :(
Talking to the mortgage lender is free, and they may help (eg by changing to an interest-only mortgage while she sorts her monies out).

If they bought it together, he owns half, surely? In which case, if she pays it on her own, isn't she putting money into his pocket?

Yeah, it's a joint mortgage so she'll have to get his name taken off it, whatever that involves. It doesn't sound like he's that bothered, but you never know what people are going to do under these circumstances.

Could be, could be. Or maybe they escaped and figured this would be a good place to hide, lots of protective camouflage ;)

Did you send me a new phone number yesterday?

Do you always end up buying new socks instead of washing the existing but dirty ones? Cause I do.

Also, sucky news about your sister. I hope she gets things sorted.

I expect at least half of your junk to be stashed at the office under your desk and the rest in the car boot.

Have you even finished unpacking yet?

Car boots are for hi-fi equipment, you foolish boy!

Unpacking is mostly what I meant by 'tidying', and no, I haven't :)
