Went to the gym yesterday lunchtime and did loads, pretty much double my set programme - definitely felt that by the end of it. Felt okay this morning though, so I went again this evening and just did the program. That makes six times in one week, with every visit except today's being more than the programme (although not normally to the extent yesterday was). The gym is surprisingly empty at weekends, I thought that'd be the busiest time but apparently not.

Haven't been eating as much as I should considering all the exercise, am trying to rectify this right now with a large bowl of pasta and bolognese sauce. Need to go shopping again tomorrow, although I did get a load of fruit and fruit juice on Saturday. Incidentally, all this cooking proper food business has really made a mess of the kitchen, somebody should tidy that up :-P

In other news, some things have been a bit upsetting this weekend, but others continue to make me feel very happy, and some interesting new stuff and some unexpected good news came along this weekend too. So life is pretty good for the most part.

*hugs*

I'm glad things are mostly ok overall, but I hope the upsetting stuff is resolved.

Me too :)

The healthy thing is going okay, I think... I successfully ran for the bus this morning, which would be the first time I've been able to run like that since my leg was smashed up - so there's definitely progress being made.

That said, I think I over-did the gym last week, for someone who's only just started, so I'll be going a bit less this week - my original intent was to go three or four times a week, which still seems sensible. Indeed that was the plan for the week just gone - but then my weekend was unexpectedly empty and so I spent it exercising, despite having already done my intended three/four visits during the week.

Plenty of stretching will help - as you exercise you are burning up old tissue and then the following 24 hours re-building new stuff. This makes you stiff (in all the wrong places...) so the best way to help the recovery is to build up flexibility. Be gentle though, never 'bounce' the stretch, just slow and hold it for a couple of seconds and as you feel the muscle extend slowly go a bit further.
The instructor should have taught you some anyway so just do them, and if you ache where the stretch doesn't reach, ask him or her what stretch does the trick. It will also give you more energy - And don't forget to breath during the stretches...

This is the Trainer in me! Hope it helps :)
