Major fuel depot explodes in Hemel Hempstead



From about 1979 to 1982 I lived at the point indicated by the blue arrow.

For most of 1996 I worked at the point indicated by the red arrow.

I know those were both a long time ago, but it's still a bit odd seeing it on a map.

Arkady's old flat - the one she brought up two young daughters in - faced the depot directly, about 700 metres away. She was just a little shaken by this.

That's in pieces now, I assume? Apparently the building I used to work in didn't do too well, being of typically shoddy industrial unit construction quality. Of course, it was full of millions of pounds worth of mainframes until the roof fell in :)
