The weekend...
May. 31st, 2005 12:04 pmHad an excellent weekend - saw loads of people who I haven't seen for far too long. Ignoring for the moment the fact that my car is a highly entertaining toy, it's also wonderful to have any means of transport that lets me move around the country visiting my friends. I think I did something like 600 miles this weekend, possibly more :)
People/places/events on my route included but were not limited to:
*
ravenselene's boat ('tis very nice to chill out on, but a bit small for living on imho)
* Shades Nightclub in Leighton Buzzard. Don't even ask. I blame it all on
jazzydan.
*
bluecassandra's birthday gathering. Some nice people, but I didn't get to spend much time there on account of the two hour tour of the South Circular that I took on the way there. Note to self: buy a navi system for the car.
*
sebastian_lux's party at
azekeil's house. There were people, and fire, and more people, and a mass goating, and indeed people. Lots of things happened here, at least one of which was completely unexpected but extremely nice. And I don't mean the goating, fun though that was :) Oh yes, I'm now a Fire Templar of The Reformed Order of the Holy Goat. Also during the course of this evening, I managed to spell out NOOOOO with fire-poi while running away from
flannelcat (who was attacking me with a fire-brand). Pretty neat trick, I wish I could figure out how I did it!
* Rotorstock - a big car show primarily for rotary-engined cars, which also attracts owners of all kinds of high-performance japanese cars. Drag strip, drift racing (So. Cool.), girls in seriously skimpy outfits molesting each other for the entertainment of passers-by (to a soundtrack provided by very powerful car stereos), and lots and lots of very shiny very fast things.
I popped through MK on the way home to see my sister and my ex-gf's daughter. Sister was out, but my ex's kid was happy to say 'nice car' to keep me happy :) before watching me embarrass myself at some SNES game (Starwing) that we both played for a while. It was nice to see her again - I'll probably pop down there more often now that I have transport again, I didn't get to spend any time chatting to her dad this time and he's a really nice bloke.
I appear to have sunburnt my lips while I was at Rotorstock. They look quite good, all red and glowy and slightly puffed up :-P but they feel shit. Ah well, it's not like anyone but me will be feeling them.
Hope everyone else had a good long weekend... mine was great. :)
