...when the suicide rate peaks sharply.

Woke up on Christmas morning surrounded by the things I'd failed to wrap. Put them in a bag and gave them to my family unwrapped. They're pretty much used to me being crap at wrapping presents, I rarely manage it...

Went to my dad's place and made a Christmas cracker, this being the entry requirement for the dinner I was invited to at his friends' place. No present from dad as he didn't know what to get me (same thing happened on my birthday actually). We chatted and decided a load of HMV vouchers might be good, so he's going to get me some of those at some point...

Went to dinner. Saw people, ate food. It was okay, nothing spectacular, but nice. Some running jokes from when I was about 10 were resurrected, which is always tedious, but on the whole they're nice people...

I left when everyone had finished digesting the main course, chatted for half an hour, and then started talking about afters. Destination: Cambridge for, erm, another dinner :)

This one was definitely spectacular - [livejournal.com profile] kboyd is a wonderful cook and I had seconds even though it was my second meal of the day!

Got presents from [livejournal.com profile] gothslut - a bracelet with shiny purple studs, and (showing she has a good awareness of my maturity level) a Slime Laboratory. Complete with goggles. Heheheh :)

Watched various videos etc with an assortment of camgoths ([livejournal.com profile] gothslut, [livejournal.com profile] grahamb, [livejournal.com profile] wechsler, [livejournal.com profile] kboyd, [livejournal.com profile] surje, [livejournal.com profile] shekhmet and others) which was very nice, then crashed out with [livejournal.com profile] gothslut which was even nicer...

Got up at a time still technically morning, but not by a lot. Found myself very very reluctant to leave Cambridge to go and see my family, but eventually toddled off at about 2pm.

Got lost no less than three bloody times on the way there, not helped by forgetting to put the maps back into my car after I emptied it last week due to the broken window. When I did finally find my mum's village, I also found a complete wanker jobsworth policeman who lectured me for fifteen minutes before writing me two tickets on the basis that one of my brake lights didn't work. The lecture was particularly annoying as I do actually check my lights before long journeys, I'm fairly sensible like that (and they were working when I left MK the day before... oh well).

Got to mum's, saw many family members, and found that I just couldn't be bothered to interact with any of them. Did my best not to be too rude about this, chatted quickly with each one as I felt up-swings in my mood, and smiled at them whenever I could get my head together enough to feel obliged to do so. My mum gave me my presents, which were a couple of stupid things (socks, etc), plus one very cool thing, a sword-cane. Rah.

Fortunately my sister realised I was completely out of phase with the whole seasonal cheer thing, and rescued me by asking me to take her and her fiance back to their holiday cottage (at which I was staying the night).

Watched a few films with those two (the 'Tremors' trilogy - recommended if you like really bad sci-fi type stuff, on a par with 'Critters' I guess) then went to sleep.

Woke up to the smell of eggs frying. This does a lot to alleviate the immediate symptoms of depression in me :) and it was quite a cheerful 'bleurgh' that I greeted them with. My sister's fiance turned out to be the cook, and supplied me with a full fried breakfast... I think I might marry him if she changes her mind ;)

Went back to see my family briefly, gave my mum a hug and then drove home. Got all the way into Milton Keynes before my car dropped dead, which made it easier for my dad to come out with jump leads and rescue me.

Was supposed to be going out tomorrow night but that got bollixed up, so I'm at a loose end now. I should probably find something to do this evening actually, as I'm really quite miserable now, and sitting around the house won't help. I'm a bit worried about taking the car out again though...

That was the other thing...you like boots, don't you? I have four £5 off coupons from HayWay for various things and since i'm not going to be predatory at new boots for a while after my lacy ones come back again, one might as well not let the coupons go to waste - do you want them?

Erm, I think I could find a good use for those vouchers, yes.  Thankyou!
