MESH indeed. And yeah, I wasn't actually intending to get another screen, but it was sooooo pretty, I couldn't help myself :-D

Now I have to work out how to fit three flat screens on my desk, and how to drive them all :)

Well two is definately viable and very nice; dual monitor setups are something I'd like to sort out. But 1600x1200 TFT's are finally looking very sweet, so... *jealousy*
My Mesh machine has been running fine, incidentally. :)

ISTR you're not that interested in gaming? Because if you are you want to ensure you have a 6800, preferably GT in there rather than a 6600.

Yeah, gaming not a major consideration. I don't think I've run any 3D games since before I moved to London.

I have no clue what it's coming with... XP Home, I think. I'll be installing Debian Testing on it for my own use. I have to confess I don't know anything about the 64 bit readiness of either...

If it was XP Pro then you'd be able to upgrade (https://microsoft.productorder.com/clientx64/default.aspx) for nothing to 64bit Windows. Should you want to, of course.

I've had an A64 3500+ for a while now, and have been running 64bit Fedora on it just fine. The main annoyance is the lack of 64bit plugins for 64bit Mozilla...

Should have got a Mac... dude. :)

At least treat yourself, and lay your hands on a Logitech MX1000 mouse. It's got a frikkin laser (and it does rock especially with more screen)...
