A friend of mine got an interesting assignment for her photography BTec this week. She has to do a self-portrait... without her in the shot.  She's currently accumulating things that she thinks define 'her' and arranging them in interesting patterns...

I thought it might be interesting to consider what I'd like to put in a self-portrait of this type, and to hear what other people might pick to represent themselves too...

  • Laptop.  I am first and foremost a geek - there's no denying it.
  • Motorbike.  I'll always be a biker, even when I don't own a bike... and right now I happen to own a very nice one  :)
  • Leather jacket.  Clothing seems such a shallow thing to define yourself by, but then it is what most people's first impression of us is probably based on... and I wear a leather both because of the bike and because of the subcultures I lurk within (metal, goth, fetish, etc).

I guess that's me done.  Did I miss anything obvious?

I don't know what i'd put in it...i could put in my elf ears, not attached to me, but the whole point is that they *are* attached to me, otherwise i would just look like a try-hard.
Hmm.
Possibly the combined contents of my pretty shiny things box and my make up/prosthetics box. And a sword still glowing red, since i probably ought to put some materials in there somewhere too.

I was tempted to put a sword in mine, even though I don't actually own one (yet - they're on my xmas list this year in various forms)

I feel like I should own a rapier, so I should put one in the pic anyway... if nothing else, because the rest makes me sound so dull  :-\
