Well, I made a new icon, but most of you won't be able to see it properly because IE IS A PIECE OF FUCKING SHIT. I can't believe they still haven't got PNG transparency working, it's only been a standard for about five fucking years now. Tossers.

Apparently the icon looks like it has a black background in IE, rather than transparent. Anyone experiencing this problem should write an email of complaint to Microsoft, and while you wait for them to reply, install something that works properly, e.g. a browser from the Mozilla family.

Update: okay, I've made a version with a non-transparent background - see comments / current default icon. *sulks*

Hmm. I think that having been here for two weeks, it might be a bit soon to start installing software on the office computers...

You know, I never used to notice how crap IE is until certain people installed a decent browser on my home machine. I would still have been blissfully ignorant if it weren't for you geeks ;P

There's something a bit funny going on here, with Mozilla 1.6/Windows 2000 - the image is transparent alright, but the background behind the image is takenfrom the very top left of the browser window. So on my friends' page it looks like your icon over the words "Olethros' friends" and on the comments page it has a background of "Depravity, deprad--"

I'm also running Mozilla 1.0 on Linux, and I can't repeat the problem there. So there's something funny going on. OTOH, it's a heap better than IE. :-)

Gets better. The background is taken from the top left of the browser window, not the current page. So if you scroll down a few lines, switch to another window that covers the browser, and switch back, the background has changed. :D

Yup - black...

Oh well. Do you like my kitty? **resists the urge to use a different colloquialism**

They deliberately left it broken in IE6 so as to maintain 'compatibility' with IE5.

One non-transparent version.

I suppose I could make a .gif version, but I don't really want to.

GIF version. Ick. Not sure why this has come out looking quite this terrible, it's not a particularly high-colour image?

According to the IM&T thingy I got handed during my induction on the first day, if I install any software on my work PC, instead of phoning the helpdesk and waiting 3 months for them to come and install it for me, I will be in breach of contract and subject to disciplinary measures up to and including dismissal from my job.

So... despite the fact that [livejournal.com profile] aegidian made me realise how much nicer Mozilla is to work with than IE, and how much nicer Safari is to work with than Mozilla, I don't think I'll be installing either of those on this machine :(

Damnit.
