Okay, I'm definitely sensitive to one of the E numbers in Cherry Coke. A few days ago I drank a litre of normal Coke in an attempt to perk up a bit and it didn't work at all. I quite regularly drink loads of Dr Pepper, which only has about as much effect as drinking instant coffee in the staying awake stakes. However, between 7pm and 11pm last night I drank 3 cans of Cherry Coke, which is about a litre, and I'm still awake now. I actually felt myself come up on the second can, I was practically giggling and bouncing around the pub.

Useful to bear in mind when I'm going out I suppose, but it's a bit of a strong after-reaction, to still be awake now...

As Dr Pepper has basically the same ingredients list as Cherry Coke, I guess it must be one of the 'flavourings' that I'm having so much fun with...

They don't actually list the invidual ingredients under 'flavourings' - I believe they famously went to court to defend their right to not give away their secret recipe? - so I don't know how I'd go about figuring out what E number it might be...

I don't feel like I'm crashing afterwards, no... the staying awake bit lasts so much longer than the giggling bit that eventually all I want to do is get some sleep - if left undisturbed when I finally do get to sleep, I wake up feeling okay...

I suppose come-down is a relative term anyway - depends how far you're used to falling after a good night out...

That's a point, yes, it must *hug*
You could drink things with E-numbers you do know in, and see which one makes you do it again...
