To save you counting, that's 37 x (2800+ Bartons, 1GB of 333MHz DDR, 80G) + 2 x 24port gigabit ethernet switches. Plus quite a nice flat screen.

Post-doctorate research in the field of image processing. I think he was involved in the 'eye' software for one of the Mars robots, for instance. He also rewrote a bloody great chunk of the Matrox drivers for X-Windows once, so that his research project of the time would run quicker :)
