Last night I went to my local-ish rock night. The guy who runs it, a friend of mine, came and picked me up during the day so that I could go along. I had fun.
Lots of people came up to me and got halfway through the sentence "Denny! Long time no see!" before moving swiftly on to "Denny! What have you done!" when they saw the crutches. I mostly told people I'd cut myself shaving. If they didn't believe me I showed them the skin graft :)
I spent quite a bit of time on the dancefloor headbanging. I didn't think I'd dare do it, but a combination of a quiet evening, and those who were there being largely people who recognised me, made me feel safe enough to try it. It was cool, people who didn't know me were just as good about giving me room, and only one person nearly backed into me in his excited bouncing around to Disturbed. A crutch applied sharply to the side of his leg soon notified him of the presence and he was more careful after that.
This morning my neck really aches :)
Saw
florence90 last night too... the pub's new landlord is a friend of hers and she'd popped down for the weekend to visit, which is one of the main reasons I chose this weekend to blag a lift there. What she didn't know is that they start redecorating the entire upstairs of the pub this morning, so she's now been blagged into helping... *snigger*
Later today I should receive a visitation from
feanelwa... in the meantime, I should probably get a bath. I'd forgotten how many people at rock clubs smoke - my hair stinks, and my eyes and nose hurt. One of the health warnings on the packets I saw last night read "Smoke contains benzene, formaldehyde and hydrogen cyanide". Smokers are insane.
