Spent the weekend in London... travelled there during the day on Friday, and back this afternoon. There was a lot of concentration required during the train station bits of the journey, but nothing bad happened and my leg is still in roughly the same number of pieces as it was before.

The Sex Maniacs Ball was dull as expected, although [livejournal.com profile] duranorak's company managed to liven it up a bit for me :) At least they've got themselves a disability-friendly venue this time - last year it was all staircases, a bit of a mess considering it's a charity fundraiser for the disabled! I was very happy to find I could actually move around the place on crutches (crowds allowing), although it turned out there wasn't much to see or do anyway. I presented this year's Erotic Award for Best Fashion Show.

Someone battered the hell out of my Kings of Chaos account while I was sleeping on Sunday... that's what happens when you leave the vicinity of your broadband.

Oh, and I broke one of the nails on my left hand sometime on Saturday, so I cut the rest of the talons off yesterday. I'm no longer the master of scritching, but I can type at a reasonable pace again, which is nice.

link for you to help re-build your dwarves. its all human clicking, which by the latest reading of the rules is still ok, i think, reading through the click lists it generates, so do most of the big hitters though too...

my nails are pretty long at the moment, so if you want anyone scritching, point them this way, OK? *grin*

Yay for getting about! How mobile do you feel at the moment? Are you enjoying freedom after being cooped up for so long?

That journey was pretty scary... I wouldn't have been excessively surprised if something had gone wrong during it. Also, being in London was hideously expensive because I had to get cabs everywhere, not wanting to risk escalators to access the tubes.

More mundane getting about, within MK, isn't too much trouble now - I've built up some arm muscle, and the leg is mostly resistant to mild shock now (i.e. it doesn't hurt when I hop, as long as I land fairly softly), so I can move around quite well... I find myself overtaking two-legged dawdlers anyway. I still have to sit down every now and then, as either my leg will start to ache, or my hands will (I need to pad the grips on these crutches if I'm going to be using them for long periods, I think).

Is the SMB full of dodgy groping men? I've heard the standard of behavbiour isn't that high.

It does give that impression, yes. I have to say that this year I didn't notice that sort of thing actually happening though, and I tend to be quite good at noticing that sort of behaviour and mentioning it to stewards.

Overall, there seemed to be a younger contingent there this year (although the event still has a much higher average age tham most fetish events, I think - probably a function of the high entry price), and quite a lot of couples too. I'm curious about whether the apparent improvement in behaviour is down to the slightly different crowd.
