Hah, just ravaged my dad's credit card to the tune of just over a hundred quid, in aid of getting me some DVDs for a belated yuletide gift and an even more belated birthday gift. Cheers dad, I'm off to bed for the weekend  :)

Dune
Galaxy Quest
Hackers
Human Traffic (remixed)
Men In Black I & II box set
Reservoir Dogs
Snatch
The One
Tron

(I managed to eat ten quid's worth of cheeseburger and trimmings while he was paying too... I love shopping with my dad)  :)

*grin*

I actually saw it at a cinema not that long ago - part of the Game On exhibition at the Barbican last year (I think that was what it was called anyway). It's still a Very Cool film. And I still want one of those bikes  :)

Yeah, I don't have a player, but my work laptop will play them. I can run it through my 21" monitor if I want to, which is larger than my television anyway, but usually I just watch them on the laptop screen from the comfort of my bed.

I watched Galaxy Quest and Hackers today, as well as Human Traffic. I always forget how much I enjoy Hackers, it's a cool film  :)

The 'TV version' (the one with the extended intro sequence).

Good version, much prefer it to the film version for general keeping to the bookness, better acting etc. Now if it had just had:
a) a better budget
b) sting
it would have been even better.
( sting being and decent CGI being the only redeeming features of the film version )

Erm, this one has Sting. As far as I'm aware it's just the film version with a long 'prologue' sequence explaining some of the background information...

Oh ok, you confused me when you said it was the TV version.
I thought you meant this (http://www.mvc.co.uk/common/product.jhtml?pid=16080381) which Frank Herbert directed himself rather than the
David Lynch version
(http://www.mvc.co.uk/common/product.jhtml?pid=10295756).

Aha. Mine is the Lynch version, except that he objected so strenuously to the addition of the intro thing that he had his credit removed from it at his own request. It has "Special TV Edition" in big letters across the top of the case...

I think I've seen the other one in Blockbusters and contemplated renting it... I figured the acting couldn't be any worse  :)
