New fad diet! I'm going to be rich!! :-p

I had an interesting weekend last week. For reasons mostly related to my citizen journalism project Police State UK, I decided to put myself on the front line of the recent riots in Tottenham.
Somewhat to my surprise, it wasn't the police who beat me up. Instead, it was half a dozen young rioters, who thought I might be an undercover policeman! (I am greatly offended by this suggestion, as you might imagine.) Fortunately some older wiser heads intervened, and I got out of it with nothing worse than mildly bruised ribs, badly bruised arms and right hand (from blocking kicks to the ribs, I think), and a fairly impressive black eye and bruised jaw.
Despite having nothing broken, it still seemed wise to take a week off from the gym. I wouldn't have been able to lift any weights anyway, as my right thumb took a serious whack at some point and is badly bruised - I can't lift a full kettle, let alone a 10kg dumbbell. I was tempted to just go along and do a bit of cardio, but in the end I decided to skip it completely and give my body a chance to heal up. I've spent most of the week slobbing around in bed or online, eating burgers and cakes and generally feeling sorry for myself.
So I was a little surprised that over the last week, I've lost just over a kilo in weight.
At the end of last week I'd just got back down to 70.5kg, my lowest weight to date, and it held there for 4 days. Then I dropped almost half a kilo overnight, a little more the next day, and nearly half a kilo again yesterday, which seems to have stayed off today. So, here we are, at 69.4kg - less than half a kilo away from my weight of 3 years ago, which I'm looking forward to reaching again (and then dropping below), as a nice milestone in my personal progress.
Anyway, there you have it - the 'getting beaten up by rioters' fad diet. To be completely honest, I'm not sure it'll catch on.
In related/more important news, my body-fat percentage has continued to fall at a slow but steady rate in line with my weight loss (it's currently 19.1%), so I assume I'm still mostly losing the appropriate type of weight. Still feels like a long way to go to the target of 15%, but looked at another way, it's almost exactly halfway from my starting figure of 23% to the target figure of 15%, so that's pretty good actually. I guess the next 4% will be more difficult, but halfway is a good start.
Also, I'm almost certain that I'm seeing some visual improvements - I think maybe my stomach is finally starting to lose a little fat, which is very good news.
I looked at my 'score wall' this morning, and realised that I'd done 12 weeks at the gym before this week off, so maybe it was time for a break anyway (no pun intended; please don't let my thumb be broken, it's just sore, kthx). In those 12 weeks I went 58 times, so that's just a shade short of 5 times a week. Pretty good effort, I think. I'm not sure whether to keep the score wall as it is and add more to it when I go back to the gym, or pull the old ones down and start again, or whether it's done its job. I guess I'll wait and see how difficult getting to the gym feels once I'm doing a regular day job again.
