Yes! My spider-sense does not lie! I'm very pleased with myself (as [livejournal.com profile] spikeylady will testify :-) for "smelling" that one, though I have to confess I guessed pranksters rather than marketers.

These journalists are idiots!

Oddly, Alison was just saying last night she'd had an odd dream about Dan Handler. He's not a subject that normally comes up very often.

As far as I can tell, the August 2006 silly season never ended.

Indeed. Jude Law was Lemony Snicket, Jim Carey was Count Olaf.

If it was the US i wouldn't have been surprised one bit. You have to feel sorry for the kids of that parent, who are going to have a very hard time when/if they manage to leave home and enter the real world.

I grew up on Hans Christian Anderson tales and The Brothers Grim. I heard the version of Little Red Riding Hood where the grandma is eaten by the wolf.

Did these tales do me any harm?

Some stories need to have a cautionary tale. "Be careful in the Woods because a wolf might eat your picnic" certainly isn't that applicable in real life - there are other reasons IRL to be cautious if you are in woods alone...

So, equally, Grrr!!!

Wait...what? They have versions of Little Red Riding Hood where the grandma doesn't get eaten?!

Worse - a PR company! :)

Apparently it was a sneaky way to get the name of Lemony Snicket into the papers - you've got to admire the low cunning of the people, really.

I'm now laughing, have read the other commentors and found out that it was all a cunning marketing ploy.
