Interview Meme
Mar. 28th, 2007 12:52 pmYou know the drill - someone posted a meme, I stuck my head above the parapet, they asked me five questions:
1. To date, what's the best thing that has ever happened to you?
Deciding to regain control of my head, which at the time was largely devoted to buying and taking cocaine on a daily basis. The rather difficult process of implementing said decision led me to change some quite core aspects of my personality, and I'm a much happier person for those changes (leaving aside the obvious physical benefits of not being dead).
2. Are you generally an optimist or a pessimist? Describe in what ways.
Sort of both, but mostly neither. Sorry. It's quite hard for me to answer this one, because it presumes a way of looking at life which I intentionally don't subscribe to. This was one of the core personality changes mentioned above, and it's something that I'm long overdue for writing a long post on. "My personal life philosophy, by Denny (aged 33½)" :)
3. If you could only listen to one song/piece of music ever again, what would it be?
Hrm. I'm unusual amongst my friendship group in not being deeply attached to music. I don't have it playing all the time I'm at home, I don't miss it if I don't listen to any for days. I basically just put music on when I want to build or reinforce a mood - usually when I'm about to go out clubbing, or occasionally if I'm really pissed off. Oh, plus when I'm driving, when I guess my attitude to it is more similar to my friends and their home stereos - I feel wrong when I go out for a drive without the stereo on. Still, I think that on the whole any single piece of music would probably drive me crazy if it was all I could listen to for the rest of time, so I'd probably end up saying 'none'.
4. Which character from a book/film do you identify with the most? What is that character like?
I have no idea. *ponders*
Okay, after five minutes of hard thinking, the only one that comes to mind is the kid from Wargames. He's bright, not very good with girls or fashion, but fairly good with computers. Gets into trouble for doing whatever seems interesting at the time, regardless of legality or common sense.
This may be inaccurate in some respects, but it appears to be how I think of myself. :)
5. Would you rather die by burning or drowning?
Drowning sounds mildly less painful, I guess. On the other hand, I don't go swimming (because I can't swim, and am in fact medium-scared of being immersed in water), and I do spin fire-poi, so you can make your own estimates on which one is more likely.
OK, now you too want an excuse to talk about yourself on your journal, without having to go to the bother of thinking up what to talk about. No problem:
1. Leave me a comment on this post, telling me something that reminds you of summer (not part of the meme, I just want to know).
2. I'll then respond by asking you up to five questions.
3. You update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them up to five questions.

Date: 2007-03-28 12:18 pm (UTC)And yes please to the questions :)
I think you've possibly grown up a bit since you were the kid from Wargames, but my self-identity is stuck at about 13 as well, so I don't think you're unusual in that respect.
