I've been trying quite hard to resist the temptation to try and get hold of some of that stuff... It would make my life so much easier.

At least until I got used to it and started trying to cram 24 hours of Stuff into the 20 I was awake, rather than 20 into 16 as I find myself doing now

I tripped and fell over a couple of those back in 2004. They're do exactly what they say on the tin.

I don't think I've ever had such strong doublethink before. "That sounds horrible. Where can I get some?"

eugh. i can't even read the whole article. that's so horrible - we need to change it the other way round, make it so we have less time working and more taking care of ourselves...

Interesting reaction... I don't want to stay awake so I can work longer hours, I want to stay awake so I have time to do stuff I want to do - work on personal projects, stay up late chatting with friends, or even just read until late at night.

What I read of the article implied that because people are working longer hours/living in a society that expects longer hours, they need some time to do all those things that you say (which I consider part of taking care of yourself) and thus end up staying late either to work or because they don't have time to do stuff in the day. If that makes sense. I suppose the whole idea of faking natural rhythms is just ... I can't think of the word, so, bad? to me. Yucky. I've been addicted to caffeine and I know it kills my brain, as well as making my body try to eat itself. I've been on fake hormones and again, they kill my brain and fuck up my body. I've never had anti-depressants and I try not to take painkillers; I've never had anything serious enough for antibiotics. The whole idea of doing something so false to yourself makes me mentally cringe. You wouldn't be you.
