denny: (I need stuff!)

Long shot, I know, but... is anyone interested in buying (second hand) films on VHS? I'm about to collect a load of stuff that I had stored in my sister's loft, and it includes my entire film collection from 5 years ago - which is of no use to me now, as I no longer own a television, let alone a VHS player. If anyone wanted to buy a whole load of them, I can assure you that I'm not looking for big money. I'm not sure how many I have but I suspect it's in the hundreds.

If anyone is interested then I'll try to type up a list of titles once I've got them all near my PC, but it's mostly sci-fi stuff. I have this feeling that most sci-fi fans converted to DVD some time ago and are about as interested in buying VHS as I am in buying sensible cars. :)

Oh, while I'm mentioning stuff from the loft there, I also have about six boxes full of comics. Mostly 2000AD and related titles from the early 90s. Does anybody know anyone who might want them, or anywhere I could take them as a job lot? Do comic trading shops/stalls even exist any more?

Might be interested in a sci-fi vid or two if you have things we've been looking for.

There was quite a good independent comics shop in Bedford a couple of years ago, they might well be interested if they're still trading. I kind of hope they are since the local comic scene is quietly dying. I can easily find out if the store is still open if you would like - they specialised in second hand stuff.

I'll at least see the list. :)

And if you're getting rid of it (which I would understand if you aren't, as you're hardly going to find it on DVD) there's one I definitely want. My 'oh my god, these films are TERRIBLE' collection will never be complete without it. :)

It's got George Clooney in it. :)

But like I said, I wouldn't blame you for hanging on to that. There probably are other things I'd want to get off you though...

I'm quite sure that's available on DVD. There are plenty of odd people out there :) I'll put it aside for you.

I've just remembered there's a comics store in Leicester that trades second hand. I'll pop in when I'm there for my dad's birthday and ask if they'd be interested, if you haven't found another home for them?

Whatever you can't shift, there is always www.freecycle.org there is bound to be someone out there who will want your 2000ads etc. Freecycle is a way of keeping unwanted but perfectly good stuff you cant sell out of landfill, you can find or off load just about anything from a fence post to a PC. Just register for your area, I bet the London freecycles are rich pickings. I did something very similar with my 2000ad collection in 2000 when I moved to London among other things.

I'm sure I'd be interested in buying some if you were to post a list :) I tried to stop buying VHS but still find myself doing it when I go to charity shops and libraries (when they sell ex-stock), so, er, I think I've given up and will just keep on buying them now..
