Review: Club Acceptance
Jan. 26th, 2003 09:36 pmFor those who were interested:
Club Acceptance is held at 520 Purley Way, Croydon - the same venue as L'Amour (and others, I believe). The venue seems good for this type of club - best description is as someone else told me; it's like a big flat that's been done up in 'fetish' decor. There are various size rooms which at Acceptance are set aside for various different behaviours. There are a few for playing (including the large room with the bar in it), one chill-out room, and one 'frisky room' by which I presume they meant you can shag in there. The rooms for playing have various equipment in them, which all looked nicely made etc. I didn't go in the chill-out or 'frisky' rooms.
As we turned up there was a violet wand / black box demo going on, which seemed to be fairly informative and there was a lot of attention being paid, and a few questions asked afterwards. The guy doing the demo (from Roissy) was also willing to demo the equipment on anyone interested through the course of the event.
Entry was between £14 and £18 depending on membership and pre-booking. Drinks were £3 alcoholic, £2 soft drinks, paid for in advance with some weird ticket system - presumably to circumvent licensing laws.
There's no dancefloor at this event, so unless you like to play there's little point in going. There's also a heavy bias of couples, so single players might not get too far either, although I suppose it's worth a try if you're cute. Most of the people there that night weren't cute, I have to say.
Summary: probably not worth it unless you're part of a couple who like to play BDSM games. If you are, possibly worth a look.

Date: 2003-01-27 02:39 am (UTC)I'm not sure having the bar area as a play area is a good idea - I don't know the venue, so it's hard to judge, but it could be difficult having to manoeuvre around flailing whips and tangles of bodies with a drink in each hand!
