Yow!

Just remembered one of the many things that I keep forgetting to journal - I went to get various bits of me waxed again last week. This time I managed to find somewhere that would do a 'full' waxing for a guy rather than just bikini line, which was a first for me.

Unfortunately, although I'm now considerably less hairy in a number of areas (yay!), it didn't go perfectly to plan...

She got my legs done very quickly, and in general she seemed to be rushing through things a bit. When she reached the more delicate areas I felt kind of rushed from yank to yank and actually felt a little panicky, to my surprise. Bear in mind I have a low pain threshold and very little interest in masochism (mine, at least) and so I wasn't really processing the pain from each yank too well at the time either. Eventually I failed to hold the skin taut enough in a couple of places, and well, I lost a few layers of skin from the testicles. Which really bloody stings, I can assure you. She stopped after that, which seemed wise given that there was blood and suchlike.

Prior to that, getting the area above my cock done had also been quite vicious... didn't lose any skin, but there are some dense clumps of hair there and they put up quite a fight. It bore more resemblance to the feeling of someone yanking my ponytail than the feeling of getting my legs waxed!

Still, my legs (and feet) and underarms are now hair-free again, thank god, as is my bikini line, the afore-mentioned area between belly-button and cock, and my arse (which reminds me - the phrase 'back, sack and crack' for a full genital waxing on a guy has to be the most incredibly crass bit of slang that I've heard in years). I don't have any body hair except from the underarms, so that's pretty much everything.

It's annoying that the only hair that's left is on the most awkward bit to shave - the majority of my balls, minus a fairly high bikini line which has been cleared - and given the recent skin trauma I'm thinking now is not the time to be using depilatory creams on them.

So, yeah. That was '171', a beauty parlour place at 171 Upper Street in Islington. I wouldn't say I'd recommend them, all things considered... as well as the obvious OUCH bit, she also seems to have broken some of my leg hair off at skin level rather than pulling it out entirely, which I suspect was due to the extremely fast pace she set - my good leg was de-fuzzed in literally a few minutes, but I'm not sure how smooth it'll be in a week's time. Ho hum.

I am disappointed but not deterred by this experience - I'll have another look around for local places that will do guys in a few weeks, trying to find somewhere that's not just the same woman working different days in different shops, and see if they're any better.

I don't really wax anymore because it's so inconvienient - making the appointment etc. I Epilate. Have you ever looked into doing something like that? It hurts a lot more, but I think tis worth it. Especially since I do like everything. Including my arms. ^_^

I hope you feel better soon, loosing layers of skin is a pretty bad experience when it's supposed to be a trained proffesional. And damn... It sounds bloody painful!

I'm seriously considering having another look at the cost of laser/epilight/whatever permanent hair removal technique is currently considered worth looking at.

I'm not sure an epilator would work on testicles... I'd expect it to grab folds of skin and do bad bad things to them.

Epilators are _definately_ the way to go, I epilate everywhere & know a bloke who does too so it can definately be done on the male body though it may take a little practise. Talcum powder is the key to those tricky areas...

You would have the ideal skin colour to hair colour combination for laser hair removal. It does hurt, but the modern lasers are very good, and I'm told a pack of frozen peas is very soothing. It can't be any nastier than that waxing sounded.

I epilate *everything* - takes ages, but has the same results as waxing, without the mess. It bloody hurts but after a while, endorphine kick in and its just a dull bzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
And yes Denny, unless you pull everything tight, you do get folds of skin caught up in the mechanism, which is a bit like a mini industrial accident :O
