Popped into the office today to catch up on LJ and email, and chat to a few people on IM. Back off home in a few minutes, to try and unpack some of the many boxes littering the new flat.
Saw
libellum's new flat yesterday, it's quite groovy. The way it's situated off the road, and the kind of building it is, and the other people who live there, all seem extremely cool - I'm jealous.
In related news, I've pretty much decided that I don't like my new flat... which is a bit unfortunate, because I'm contractually stuck there for 12 months now. The layout and size of it is basically okay, but that's about it. The place is unpleasantly dirty - I know I'm a messy bastard, but the guy who owns the place and lived there before me was fucking scummy - I'm having to bleach shelves in the kitchen before I dare use them, that kind of thing. The area is looking pretty rough in the evenings (weirdly it seems fine in the day, families playing outside and stuff), so I'm seriously worrying about my car being stolen at night. The walls and ceiling are absolutely transparent to noise - when people walk past my bedroom window talking, it sounds like they're walking through the bloody room, and I can hear the dog in the flat above me trotting around all the time. The worst thing though is that it's 15 minutes fast walk from the tube station, which is a pain in the arse whenever you want to go anywhere, and entirely something that I should have realised before I took it. I guess I'll just have to chalk this one up as an educational experience, and get out when my year is up. Ho hum.
Oh, and the kitchen blind ripped out of the ceiling and fell on my head when I tried to close it. You've got to laugh.
Speaking of laughing... last night I went to see Rocky Horror with various of
sepheri's friends, which was fun. Not a very good production at all (the worst I've seen actually), but I went with a good crowd so we made our own good time. Somewhat to the disgust of some of those sat around us, I don't think they really approved of all the audience participation. We actually brought the entire show grinding to a giggling halt at least twice with particularly well-timed interruptions :-D Many thanks to
sepheri for organising it (I owe you money for my ticket!), and also to her boyfriend - who claims he doesn't like Rocky, but let it take over his birthday evening nonetheless.
