*blows you a kiss*

You're neither fascist, heterosexual or orthodox, and I think I can forgive you for being male. <3

I don't know. The first link strikes me as someone getting unreasonably upset and linking sexism to the event... But why? What exactly made the original shout sexist? The fact that it was a man shouting at a woman? Give me a fucking break.
Also, even if his intent was sexist in nature, the single best way to respond to people's discriminatory illusions is not to act as if they're correct. My word, some breadman shouts at you to fuck off and you throw a hissy fit? Who has this kind of time? How do those two wrongs make a right? I understand the anger in the case of an actual sexist remark, but in this case? Fuck off.

And violence is a self-perpetuation pox on those who practice it. On certain occasions, it's the only resort - self-defense springs to mind. But because some guy who doesn't have any impact on your life told you to fuck off?!

Boggles the mind.

I passed on the first helpwinmybet site. I thought it was cool. It is, however, not at all surprising that it was a hoax. I would've done the same in any other configuration of genders and people, but I think that yes, it gained a lot in popularity because of the general, stereotypical male dream of having a FMF threesome.

*sigh*

Interesting to me that you say FMF - man in the middle. Or was that just a typo? :)

I saw it broadly as "I want two girls to shag", not "I want to see two girls shagging", so I'm still doubting the queer-politics relevance of the whole thing.

I think that's the stereotypical idea (the FMF), although I have known this one guy who seemed to get off on me and his girlfriend snogging and playing while he shagged me rather than the actual shagging in and of itself.

I looked at the first post and yes it did get my blood boiling. I, too, abhor violence, and I would have felt as [livejournal.com profile] jane_the_23rd describes in her post had similar happened to me. However, I find I tend to make sure I don't put myself in a confrontational position in the first place. I accept having to sometimes go out of my way slightly to ensure my safety. I don't think I've ever been confronted.

So, in order to answer the question, I guess I implicitly accept ingrained cultural prejudice by my actions, which would ideally not lead to violence. I don't believe violence is an appropriate reaction to the problem - it solves nothing than to exacerbate tensions and perceptions overall will not be changed by militant action. You cannot change an ingrained cultural prejudice with a one-on-one technique.

In answer to the second question; I believe the answer is yes, and I personally congratulate them for such a shrewd marketing scheme. It's certainly given us food for thought.
