Hack 'n' slash.
Mar. 3rd, 2006 11:22 amJust got a phone call from the hospital and arranged a date for the surgery to remove the metalwork from my leg. May 22nd. A fair way off in the future; they were actually phoning to offer me a date in March but I can't give work that little notice, and then I want to go to TG in April and May with
libellum. So, TG's Birthday Ball in May is on the 20th, my last night out for a while I guess. Lots of sleep and snuggles on Sunday 21st, and then under the knife on the 22nd.
I'm a bit scared. :-\

Date: 2006-03-03 12:01 pm (UTC)However, a lot of my day to day pain right now centres around the locations of a few of the screws just under the knee - so I'm hopeful that there will be a noticeable improvement once I've healed from this surgery, even if I'm not likely to ever be 100%.

Date: 2006-03-03 12:11 pm (UTC)I like the metal bits, shame to see them go but hope it will leave you in less pain.
As for avoiding hermitting, surely you can arrange a trail of gorgeous girls to come & feed you grapes while you're in recovery?
I'll put my name on the list... I don't have a nurses outfit though, sorry, you'll have to pick one of my other creations.

Date: 2006-03-03 12:17 pm (UTC)You're very welcome to come and feed me grapes, thank you :) I'll speak to you nearer the time and see when you're free to come over - company will be very much appreciated.
I'll kind of miss the screws at the bottom/front of the shin, they were fun to poke and they never hurt, but I expect they'll take everything out while they're doing it.

Date: 2006-03-03 06:32 pm (UTC)When I had my hardware removed, they told me I would be on crutches for 1-2 months. I was actually walking quite well without them after less than a week. The longest part of the healing process was waiting for the incision to heal.

Date: 2006-03-03 09:33 pm (UTC)I go in for surgery on Monday...I totally understand the scared feelings...I'm trying not to let it consume me right before I go in. One upside of surgery is the funkeh drugs they give you to cope with the pain and insomnia afterwards! ;)

Date: 2006-03-04 10:31 am (UTC)I'll be thinking of you sweetie, try not to worry too much! As far as the reovery period is concerned, you've a good long wedge of time to prepare for it, why not start arranging company to visit in the weeks after so that you know you're not going to be quite so isolated and have things to look forward to while you wait to heal up?
